Who got jobs they didn't qualify for?

You probably shouldn't know that, it might effect your fandom.

The information came from multiple sources that wouldn't know each other, some from the program side and others from people close to the employer side. I've yet to hear anyone refute it. There is more from donors that I've known through association. There have been donors willing to play the game over the years but I guess the school will have to settle for receiving their 10s of thousands of dollars to sit in suites instead of getting that money to players that could make a difference.

I guess it's good IU still receives most of that money while putting an average product on the court instead of getting some of that money to better players.

Sounds like your fandom has already been effected.

I'm just asking to see if they were truly unqualified or were minimally qualified. Not a big deal for a jr high coach to get a video coordinators job...

It's actually against the rules for a relative to get a job with the program unless it's assistant or higher.

They were not hired by the program or school.

Edit: How has my fandom been effected? Is this where I'm told to calm down or that I'm a non fan? I am not naive enough to believe that IU is some beacon of integrity in the cesspool that is college athletics. There are things I don't want as part of the IU program. Those would be hard drugs and abusers. I am completely fine getting players money, especially now that it is totally legal!

I wouldn't call landing jobs you don't qualify for or participate in while receiving a salary free food. House and some "get right" money is a little more than free food.

I just know of one players dad who landed a job while his son was at IU. He was qualified but his son playing at IU probably helped. But he was also fired while his son was at IU for drinking on the job. I don’t know of anyone who received a house.

Really good 2 hr interview with Goodman.  I watched the video pod yesterday.  The Crean stories were about what you would expect

I agree, I thought it was a great listen. Not a huge Goodman fan but enjoyed him taking the time to talk IU for 2 hours

I don’t mind him.  Once you figure what he is doing with regards to fanbases I personally find it funny.    His pod with Hummel is really good as well.   His IU take is spot on.  In college basketball you need your pg to be elite or close to it and if not you are going to struggle.

There is so much out there in terms of good basketball analysis given the number of venues available.

Guys like Dakich and Goodman increase their base with their trolling nature on twitter or on the radio.  I understand why they do it, but I guess I'm just at the point in my life where I'd rather tune in to the guys who are just as good at the analysis that aren't trolling for dollars.

So 10 missed tournaments in 14 years. 6 straight misses with 3 different coaches. One missed tournament is a coach or player issue. This is a PROGRAM issue. This is because of Fred Glass, no? He has to take full responsibility as he ran the athletic department for a DECADE.

There were obvious deficiencies with Crean and Archie in their first year's that never improved. Do we expect that Woodson's deficiencies will be turned around next year? Was this year just growing pains?

Is IU doing anything to recognize and fix the fact that a once proud and storied program is no better than a mid-major? We are not even a top 10 Big10 program.

I guess a gas station etc, can hire anyone they want.

You brought up fandom, not me and I'm not the one bitching.

It's not completely legal to "get players money". There are rules that are supposed to be followed, it'll just be harder to see if someone got a Lambo from their NIL or by unscrupulous means.

Not a program issue. This season doesn't lump Woodson in with Archie and this season isn't even a non-ncaa team, yet, and may be one. It won't take a tournament win to make it.

Indiana with Coach Woodson MAY miss it this season. Doesn't have anything to do with previous seasons and that doesn't have anything to do with ongoing seasons with CMW.

Yes it does. This isn’t an isolated incident. This is systemic. Listen to what everyone has been saying

I disagree.

Has zero to do with any other season and zero to do with any other coach. There is no Indiana system that had anything to do with this season.

Besides, we may be an ncaa tournament team.

We are not an NCAA tourney team. You are of course free to think what you want but incompetence has run rampant throughout IU athletics for quite some time. Our failures this season is not isolated. The university has sabotaged our basketball program for decades and there are hundreds of examples of this.
we didn’t just suck this season, there was a lot that lead up to it and until things are changed, we will continue to suck. The administration has to want it and until they do, it doesn’t matter.

While I am sick of the Duke and coach K love tonight, the video of him telling his players “am I mad about what happened, your damn right I am, but it doesn’t matter until you are mad too.”

that goes for the administration- they don’t care that we suck, the music plays on, they sell popcorn, tickets, candy stripe pants and think that will continue for eternity or at least through their tenure so they are complacent and think everything is fine

There is truth in this that goes back to the Knight situation.  They clearly don't want that to repeat itself.  Of course then Sampson was hired who was already know to "cheat."  So it was a work in progress -- and my guess a split administration at the time.  Sampson gave the "do gooders" the amunition to kill the program, which they did.  It's a long road back with some less than spectacular coaching hires.  Crean just could get the consistency desired.  Archie was a complete bust, with no apparent reason why he failed so miserably.  Jury is out on Woodson.  Keep the faith.

It’s a front dining experience to secretly fund Indiana athletics, and I’m here for it. Is he upset with the results yet? Lol.

Probably didn't work well when Buffalouies was on 17th.

I lived across the street from that Buffalouies and worked there around 1998.  Buffalouie was a great man, but I heard he died years ago.  Who runs it now?
