We’ll see.  The calling card of this team for years has been inconsistent effort and performance.  One game isn’t going to prove anything.  They have to put effort in at home and the road.  Against ranked teams and I ranked teams alike.

But you know, our 3 losses this season are all road games, in double OT, and then the next 2 by a total combined 8 points. It wasn’t inconsistent effort.

Agree the team needs to come out again and take care of business ag Minn etc, but we’re not seeing the same breakdowns as last season, apples and oranges.

I think the Penn State game was more the inconsistent effort, that’s why the team looked like they were running in cement and CMW called out TJD for only grabbing 5 rebounds.  Rebounding is an effort activity and that is why we were -10 in the rebounding department.  Inconsistent effort!

We got blown out against Syracuse in the first half because we didn’t try during the first half we made a furious comeback but still it happened.  And we were blowing Wisconsin out at half but then left our effort in the locker room. They may have been on the road but the lack of effort was on full display.  And Penn State was just poor effort all around.

How is a double OT loss by 1 basket a blow out? Are you sober lol. And lack of effort when you’re up 22 in the 1st half?? Trippin

Are you sober. I specifically mentioned how we were blowing the badgers out at half then Got blown out even worse in the second half.  We blew them out at half by 17 then proceeded to lose by 5 because we didn’t try.  Your trying to spin getting out scored by 22 in the second half as a positive because we only lost by 5?  In what world is that a good thing.

And you are trying to spin being down by 16 at half just because we came back to take it to OT but had nothing left in the tank after our furious comeback. Newsflash basketball is easier to win if you don’t get blown out by 16 points in a half.

Man the sunshine pumpers are desperate to spin anything as a positive.  Getting outscored by 16 and 22 in a half of basketball respectively isn’t a big deal. Because we managed to lose by less than that amount.

Why on earth would anyone have to spin anything.  Teams get down and teams come back all the time in college basketball.  It’s why they play 2 half’s.   Better teams then IU have lost big leads and worse teams then IU have came back from bigger deficits.  If you watch enough college basketball you don’t need to be a sunshine pumper(got your quota in for the week for saying that) or doom and gloomer to point it out that this happens.

It happens. But it’s not supposed to happen to the same team every other game

It happens more then people realize.  Not like IU fans are going to care that Wisky was down double digits to A&M for half of the first half and went on a crazy run to end the half to go up 1.    Then next game be up 20 at half against Houston and lose the second half by 18 to barley hold on to a 20 pt lead.     You want to be pissed they lose leads that’s fine.  I was during each of the games it happened but the difference is I don’t pretend that IU is a program that is above this type of stuff.   If it happens to programs that make the tourney year in and year out what makes IU special for you to think it shouldn’t happen to a program that hasn’t been successful?

I think the problem is that a lot of fans don't watch other teams like they do IU.  They see all of the IU flaws and they think that IU is the only team that has those flaws.  I watch a lot college basketball and haven't found a perfect team that doesn't hav flaws.  Even our 76 team averaged 16.9 turnovers a game.

We aren’t going to change the trajectory of this program continuing to perform like we have the previous years.

This has been a bigger problem for us the last 6 years than Wisconsin. If Wisconsin had the same issues to the same scale they wouldn’t make the tourney. Which is my point.  Getting blown out by 22 in the second half doesn’t just happen. It’s the result of effort and preparedness.  And we won’t ever get elite if we just accept that occasionally you get out scored by 22 points in the second half.

We have 3 losses this season. We didn’t even really complete or fight for 2/3 of those games. We just were there

Of course other teams have flaws. But most of them have a road win by now.

We've lost 3 total games, all of which were road games, by a total of 10pts (3.3pts per game).

One of those games vs Wiscy, where we have a very long history of losing in Madison....

Sure a road win in one of those 3 would have been nice. Sure the collapse in Madison sucked.

But not shocked you're looking for reasons not to enjoy a great win lol....

Earlier in the season people wondered why Kentucky was ranked and we weren’t.  No team has outscored Kentucky by more than 6 points in a half in any of their 3 losses.

How about we be a little more honest....

KY's class rating the last 4 years...

No your using one win to think an issue that we have seen for 5 years is somehow magically fixed.

Can’t speak for the trajectory of the program I have nothing to do with that I’m just a fan on a message board.  I have no control over any of that.   Accepting or not accepting a 22 point letdown has nothing to do with being elite.  Good teams lose leads all the time.   You have somehow turned a discussion about pumpers turning everything into a positive into IU not being elite if they lose 22 pt leads.  IU elite discussion is over and done.   The program you are invested in is going to have to scratch and claw its way back to that status.  Unfortunately becoming elite doesn’t happen over night so watching a program that has no winning culture and not been in the tourney in 5 years is going to be flawed.  Enjoy the wins during the ups and downs of a season.   Hopefully you got a chance to watch the nice win against Ohio St I didn’t see you in the game thread so I figured you probably didn’t get a chance to see a positive moment for the program.   IU is going to lose a double digit lead again this year.  Hopefully they figured out some stuff and learned from the previous games

I honestly wish I had this belief that things will just work out and the negative outcomes in the past were just normal and Unavoidable.  But it’s not how the world works.

Archie and Creans failures in their early years were indicative of problems. We’ve now had 3 winnable road games and we have **** the bed in all 3. And people want to polish that up and sleep easy.

Can Woodson right the ship.  Of course.  But honestly the odds aren’t in his favor more coaches fail than succeed at this level. And he’s obviously not some sort of quick fix because he came from the NBA

Last time we was consistently in the top 25. We started out the year in 2016-17 season and fell out of it 9 weeks into the season. We was in it very briefly in 2018-19.

So with all that being said, come January 14th. we haven’t been in the top 25 of the ap poll in 3 years!

And we have only been in the top 25 a total of 6 weeks (back in 2018-19) in 5 years!!!

Think about that **** for a minute….

Here’s the link, seems accurate but I’m sure someone can check it.

I wasn’t able to see the Ohio state game sadly. It was my night to put my daughter to bed. Certainly good to get the win. An OSU fan I work with gushed about TJD non stop.

I honestly at the point where home games aren’t going to convince me of anything.  Obviously losing them is bad but for me to think this team is going to elevate its game above what we have had in recent years I need to see us fighting when the crowd is against us.  Coming out pumped to beat somebody in their gym and staying pumped till we get the W.
