(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland

~63% chance Queen chooses IU according to on3's predictive algorithm (RPM). I'm pretty skeptical of its accuracy unless anyone has some numbers to show it's reliable.

I think IU has a good chance at landing him, but I'm not convinced this algorithm can predict that.

I like our chances with Queen too, but On3's "proprietary metrics" do nothing for me. It's complete nonsense and their own employees don't even understand it.

It uses machine learning so I'm not surprised the employees don't understand it. Looking at the list makes me even more skeptical though.

Asa Newell: IU 25%, Georgia 16% => I really doubt IU is in the lead for him. They obviously have a chance but I don't think he chooses IU. At best those percentages are probably reversed.

Liam McNeely:  Texas 52%, IU 30% => Even if Texas leads (which I don't think they do), I don't think the difference is that much. I know he's from Texas but his HS choice shows he isn't opposed to playing far from home. Again, it would make more sense if they were reversed.

Those are just some IU targets that have questionable predictions like Queen's.

Bill Self and Kansas have declared war on IUBB. We win Mgbako.. They win Bindunga.

If they can pull Queen with Bidunga on board we will need a full scale investigation of the Jayhawks. I could see McNeely being an easy sell to Kansas though as he fits the mold of that cornball SF that torched us last season.

There already was an investigation into KU. They were caught cheating, but the university and NCAA didn't care enough to do anything about it.

KU/Self is KU/Self. They can certainly get anybody. But I’d be pretty shocked if they can make either of these happen. Bidunga and Queen would certainly be an odd fit. Plus, they’ve supposedly been the school hardest on Ngongba. And when McNeeley talks he goes on and on about personal connection, even more sometimes than actual basketball, and KU’s usual pitch of, “We’re royalty and we’re extending you an invitation”, feels a little tone-deaf with him. He’s a different kid. But, hell, who knows?

He ain’t going to Kansas. Neither is Liam M

Never thought he was, but pretty unusual for an official visit by a 5-star to just…..disappear.

Looked, just now, for anything on fan forums for the Jailbirds discussing Queen or reflecting on a recent visit.

Can't even find a whisper.  No fan threads.  Crickets.

Sounds like someone forgot to pick up little Derik at the bus stop and he just wandered off.

Adam Howard probably gets a big assist but nonetheless, Queen is not big on social media so IMO this is a big deal that he tweeted this out.

This firmly leads to believe he didn’t make his KU visit. I mean, there is nothing about it and he posted nothing.
