BTW, as far as I know -- Essegian has NOT committed yet.

But Badger Nation is getting restless -- and throwing a little shade at us and Kansas in the process.

Hang on...when has Wisconsin ever been a superior option to KANSAS?!

Michigan State's A.J. Hoggard will continue to test the NBA waters, but if he doesn't like the temp -- he ain't going back to East Lansing, Izzo says.

Would have his COVID year left if he returns to college.

LOL. gotta love old coaches who refuse to change with the times and hold their schools hostage until they retire.

Izzy is 79-54 (41-38) over the last 4 years. No championships.

And next year looks to be the worst of them all

yikes. they might be the losers of the offseason unless they make some portal adds soon.

Klesmit and Blackwell is still a strong backcourt. But they might be riding they played the essegian thing better.

Storr is uber talented but he is pretty ball dominant and changes schools every year. I’m interested how he fares at Kansas. I can’t imagine Self will have a lot of patience for that but then again they’re probably paying him $750k or something.

Eh, neither are a point guard. They lost their three best players (storr, hepburn, and wahl). 2 of which didn't have to leave.

Haven't replaced them with anything. I agree Blackwell will be good, but doesn't make up for what they lost to the portal.

Wahl is an unrelated issue, but I agree a big loss. They historically do a good job of plugging in the next fundamentally sound post player. Supposed to be Winter but we’ll see.Wahl will be tough to replace though.

Klesmit was already their backup pg and just slid over when Hepburn was out. He’ll be fine. I agree they still have some holes to fill because they often run a 3 guard lineup and I would bet they were counting on it being Hepburn, klesmit and Blackwell.

NEWS: Wisconsin guard Chucky Hepburn has entered the transfer portal, source told ESPN. Averaged 9.2 points and 3.9 assists this past season, averaged 12.2 points and shot 40.5% from 3-point range in 2022-23. Started 103 games over the past three seasons for Greg Gard.

BTW, making the rounds around Wisky social media this morning even prior to Hepburn announcing he was leaving was that Michigan State was trying to poach him.

My totally trying to connect the dots and to make a guess would be Notre Dame.  Took an official visit there and is a guy who fits what Shrewsberry like to do.

That would make sense. Given how hard the staff was on him in HS I’ll be surprised if they don’t at least inquire. Watched several of his EYBL games when they were recruiting him and didn’t like him nearly as much as the staff. He can really shoot it and he could score in bunches. But he was a textbook tweener. Struggled defending size and didn’t move well enough to stay in front of a decent wing scorer. Not sure the B1G style is the fit here.

Trilly Donovan alluding to a get by Louisville.  Not a portal guy, but they hosted Kentucky decommit and 8th rated 24 recruit Jayden Quaintaince today, 6'9" center.

They got the BYU center who is going to redshirt today

In this current period of everyone looking for older kids, Quaintance is gonna a very interesting case to follow. He may be really physically gifted, but that kid is crazy young. He’ll player his entire freshman year as a 17 year old. When he hits a campus this June he’ll still be 16. I’m not clear on what expectations should be for him.

Does Gard survive this? He doesn’t have the results or seemingly the popularity for this to sit well with UW folks.

Wisky has $2.5 million in basketball NIL according to Wisconsin boards....that's probably mid P5 territory.  Probably would expect to lose some to the portal but still be able to get some talent in.  But outside of Johny Davis, has he been sending players to the NBA?  Even Davis has not shown much success yet, particularly for a guy drafted tenth.

Chibuzo Agbo, 6'7" Boise State wing, enters.  13.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg.  Excellent volume three point shooter, shot 45/41/72 last year and made 76 of 186 from three.

Toibu Lawal, 6'8" forward, VCU.  Interesting player.  From London, attending his senior year in the states.  Pogo stick player....leaps out of the building.  In VCU's 2023 preseason measurements recorded a 49.5 inch vertical leap.  Lots of highlight blocks and dunks.  Almost all of his points all come in the paint, either on put backs, oops, or attacking the rim.  Averaged 7.7 points and 6 rebounds last year but did so in 19 minutes/game.  Shot 67%.  Did step out and make 3 of 7 threes.  Highlight reel below.  Raw, but great athleticism.

Davis is the only guy he’s had drafted and he’s atrocious. I will never understand what scouts saw in him to end up in the lottery.
