Stuhoo Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Lenee Beaumont says that 20 wins is not a goal for this season; it’s the bare minimum standard for IUWBB; they are foreseeing much higher outcomes. She added that she has seen IU media-projected as low as 13th in the B1G, and (without using these words) it pisses her off. HoosierHoopster, LamarCheeks, mamasa and 2 others 5 Quote
TTT Posted October 21 Posted October 21 That’s fine and dandy, a good start, and the right verbal! Attitude. Now, go out and win 25 to 30 plus games……don’t see how that is going to happen….but just do it anyway, anyhow, everywhere, all the time. Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted October 22 Posted October 22 People just continue to underestimate Moren. Personally, I find it comical. She’s an outstanding coach. Her team is now faster and more athletic. There’s going to be some growing pains as she and the team adjust, and then the team will rise under her coaching. Let the Debbie Doubters keep at it. Todd41 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I have taken the summer off from following the women closely during the off season. Now I feel refreshed and excited to see how the team comes together before the B10 schedule kicks in. The women are being underestimated which might just be for the better. J34 1 Quote

But this roster seems good to me. I like a lot of the pieces. But B1G is loaded. Should be about to compete at top quarter of the B1G but not likely with the best. That’s all just fuel Unfortunately we didn't recruit well for a couple years and last year it caught up with us. I like the freshmen we brought in but it's tough to win with freshmen in the women's game. Our new recruiting coordinator has already bagged a pair of top 50 recruits for next year so let's hope it continues. Quote

And yet Moren still got the team to 20 W’s last season, and including some locker room issues. Do think it’s going to take some growth for another 20 W season, like all the past decade in a row, but believe we’ll see coaching adjust to the pieces, again, and these pieces adjust to the coaching better. New recruiting off to a good start, and the direction is continuing to get bigger and more athletic, and with that will come deeper runs Quote
TTT Posted October 22 Posted October 22 IU women basketball recruiting has improved some….but there are those schools that top 10 recruits belong too and those schools continuing to compete in the top 25 recruits area much more than IU Ladies. Now, competing for the top 50 recruits that market has been competitively expanded among more schools where IU is creatively competitive. Winning 20 games is ok and is kind of borderline solid season because a team plays around 30 games and that includes lower level pre season programs. 20 win seasons are not that impressive. 20 wins 13 loses = 60% Quote
Aaron Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Recruiting has seemingly been fixed with the switch of recruiting coaches. Three top 60 recruits including the two highest ranked players in program history directly out of high school for 2026 both in top 30. Also 2025 has two top-40 recruits. These classes (especially 2026 which is likely to be top-five in country) are in line with other top programs of last few years and is what should have been happening the last few seasons when winning. It was all about switching lead recruiting coaches. The job under the previous recruiter was not commensurate to the results on court. This new one in last year very much is. Glad Moren recognized it and made the change. It shows she expects winning and strong recruiting as much as fans and recognized job was not getting done under previous person. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 Talia Goodman published her list of the B1G top 10 freshmen in the upcoming season. Makalusky and Caffey both on her list. It was basically just a list without any real narratives. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote

Both will have plenty of opportunity on this IU squad. WOuldn't be surprised if both start, either early or eventally this season. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote
TTT Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Ok Makalusky has been in the IU Ladies program long enough. Interested in the Makalusky and Garzon matchup vs Maryland. Quote
TTT Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Is there going to be another top 20 recruit on campus this weekend per Indiana Women Basketball News??? Anyone know who???? Quote
TTT Posted October 23 Posted October 23 20 win seasons of success probably need to be adjusted upwards to 24 wins per seasons of success as a bench mark. (20 wins seem out dated)…..or single digits in the loss column as 9 losses or less. Quote

TTT Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Month of November games that will say something about IU Ladies basketball. A couple warm up games exhibition and Lipscomb plus 5 more practice preseason games. Plus a game with Illinois December 6. Florida State November 16 Butler November 19 Florida Gulf Coast November 25 Gonzaga November 28 IU Ladies should be 11-0 excluding exhibition game. However, exhibition and Lipscomb games say hardly anything about IU Ladies success for this season. Up through December 6 will say something about expectations 25-26. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote
