Class of '66 Old Fart Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 In my working stiff days, I had some business relationships with PEDCOR, who owns United Fidelity Bank. PEDCOR was, and I presume still is, an exceptionally well run organization and I would view Derek's move as nothing but positive for he and his family. https://www.pedcorcompanies.com/ Hutch89, Napleshoosier and Stuhoo 3 Quote
SlamaJamaSisley Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Did he interview for Mike Roberts’ job? If so, might be why he decided to move on? JHoosier914 1 Quote
ElectricBoogaloo Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 I love Elston, but maybe now we can get a Director of Player Development with the experience to develop players a bit more consistently. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Every director of player development has different responsibilities. In this case, Derek was more in the support staff side than the actual X's and O's development of a player. Derek will have more time to himself and his family now that he's in the "normal" world. Working in college basketball, especially at the D1 level is very time consuming and will eventually take a toll on the mind and body. I'm happy for him! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I think Archie has done a fine job given the players he was given coming in. In my opinion, I noticed a dramatic change in our fundamentals such as passing and moving without the basketball during Archie's first year. Give him time, we'll get there. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Part 1 (15 min.) of a sitdown with Kent Sterling. Some good insight on Elston working with Crean and working with Archie. A great quote in the early minutes: "...even the coaches didn't know the schedule." Also comments on Vic as a great teammate. http://kentsterling.com/2020/06/17/snbs-dsol32-talks-iubb-as-former-player-compares-tom-crean-to-archie-miller/ ALASKA HOOSIER, HoosierAloha and HoosierDYT 3 Quote
