Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I think if anything experience still is a huge factor in the tourney over the talented one and done. Based on my recollection, Kentucky is the only team to win it with mostly one and done's and they had a superstar in Anthony Davis. More times than not it's a collection of players with varying experience levels. I would take Kansas or Nova over Duke next season in that regard. Heck I would even take UNC. Nova wasn't the most talented team this year, but they were hands down the best team. I was counting on losing Brunson and Bridges in my calculations. Quote

If you saw Devonte Graham, Frank Mason (graduated last yr), Svi, Vick as freshman they improved by leaps and bounds under Self. Self gets the most out of his guys and literally the only knock on him is outside of 2008 he hasn't gotten to the final 4 enough. It's a problem a lot of programs wish they had. Quote

Wasn't aiming to knock KU's... Self is an excellent coach.. current top 5 in the country no question. I'm just taking Nova's team next year over them, assuming Spellman is back. (and also projecting improvement the way the Nova players have recently). Quote

And a title game appearance in 12 and gave Kentucky a good game. They've also been to the E8 3 straight years now. I would be more than happy with that "underachieving." I actually know a KU fan that says he and his buddies were split 50/50 on whether or not they wanted Self as HC before this season started. I said who would you hire and he said Brad Stephens. Pretty funny and also annoying that a fanbase wouldn't be thankful for what they have (a top 5 program literally every year and usually a sweet 16 or elite 8 run). Just think if Tom Crean somehow, someway landed there a long time ago. Quote

Nova would be more proven and you have to give Jay Wright the nod over Self. I think it all depends on the Lawson twins. I'm not a fan of them and am actually surprised they haven't had any off court issues (that are known) since at KU. If Self can get them to be team players with Azuibuke, Vick, Garrett, De Sousa and a top 5 recruiting class, it will be interesting! CSP 1 Quote
TXHoosierDaddy Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 26 minutes ago, Joe DeLow said: From what I have heard, the oldest Lawson twin was already the best player on the team this past season. Even better than Graham. KU could be very very good and actually have depth in the frontcourt unlike this past season. If Romeo goes there, automatically the title favorites. I Personally have them #1 even if Romeo doesn't go there. KU will be an absolute force to reckon with come March. I think it's the younger one who is better. KJ is older but redshirted his first season at Memphis. Dedric averaged 20 PPG last season and KJ averaged 12 PPG before both sitting out this season at KU. Quote
TXHoosierDaddy Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 3 minutes ago, Joe DeLow said: Dedric is the older one. Don't know why I put twins. KU has Dedric listed as a 6-9 F and KJ as a 6-8 guard.. So that size should be interesting. Dedric is younger by a year. Think KJ may have been held back at some point before college and then redshirted his freshman year at Memphis so is a year behind Dedric as far as eligibility left. KJ is 21 yrs old and Dedric is 20. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Dedric Lawson is the real deal. He’ll be my number 1 pick for player of the year. He also takes a lot of shots. KU has Grimes and Dotson coming. I don’t think Romeo picks KU because of the amount of time he gets on the ball and his # of shots. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 That makes perfect sense, but how many times have we seen 5 stars flock to pUKe or Dook despite the same drawback? Romeo is his own man, though. Hope he wants to be the man at home rather than a cog that will be soon forgotten at the cesspool in Lawrence. Right. “Pro” contracts at Kansas, Duke, and UK are hard to say no to after all. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Hardwood83 and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
