Jaden Ivey, Mishawaka Marian - The 6-3 junior scored 26 points in Mishawaka Marian’s 74-44 season-opening win over Fort Wayne Bishop Luers.

Ivey's name came up in a Kent Sterling podcast the other day as a kid we're still keeping tabs on.

Jon Blau:  FINAL: Bloomington South 75, Bedford North Lawrence 66. Panthers improve to 1-2 with a win in their home opener.  Anthony Leal led South with 25 points.

Yes, I'm quoting myself because I have some additional info on this game.  Leal was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 7-of-10 from the field. He was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.  Archie was watching as was an assistant from Xavier.   An asst. coach from Stanford will be in tomorrow night for his home game against Southport.

Get the feeling that Archie is gonna pull the trigger here. That FT shooting has gotta be straight dopamine to the brain after watching his own team these past 9 games.

That alone is good enough for me too. Poor FT is just the worst. Completely inexcusable above middle school level.

Nick Baumgart hasn't seen the official line but thinks Kiyron Powell of Ev. Bosse may have had a triple double tonight:  points, rebounds, blocks.

Official line:  Powell finishes with a triple double of 12 points, 15 rebounds and 12 blocks.

You hope the staff sees something in him and if they choose to go in his direction he ends up like a Kihei Clark at Virginia this year. Ranked 363rd and starting for the #4 team in the country. 3-1 assist/turnover ratio.
Check your Pm I sent you one if you don’t mind looking at it

Yeah, think he is a breakout candidate.

Future 150 has him at #76.

At first I thought he was a 19 recruit. But seeing that he is a ‘20 makes a lot of sense.

In a game that was far from interesting to watch, Mishawaka Marian defeated Culver Military 39-38.  CMA led at the half 29-18, and Marian never led until scoring the winning basket with 10 secs. left in the game.  Trey Galloway the leading scorer for CMA with 12 pts.  Jaden Ivey of Marian scored 21 pts., which the announcers said was his average.  These teams will likely face each other again in February as they are in the same sectional.

Ev. Memorial defeated Ev. Bosse 57-45.  Kiyron Powell of Bosse  finished with five points, all in the first quarter. He ended with four blocks and eight rebounds.   Gordon Englehardt of the Evansville Courier Press said this about Powell:  "Powell is a shot-blocking machine defensively. But he still has plenty of work to do offensively. Powell has to make his moves more crisply and improve his touch."
