Old Friend

I'm sorry. I hope this kid falls flat on his face

The entitlement, arrogance, and complete bastardization of all things decent in this family makes me sick.   I hope nobody buys his shoes; and I hope his loud mouthed dad goes broke.

Lonzo's going to get a wake up call when he gets to the league. Daddy won't be able to save him when someone gets tired of the bs and gives him a hard screen or foul.

I don't wish the kid ill will in his basketball career, but I hope the "Big Baller Brand" is a massive failure.

Just seems to me that he's putting an awful lot of pressure on his son(s). I think there will be a lot of resentment toward them. Seems silly to have your own shoe at a point in your career when you haven't really accomplished anything.

I don't really wish them any ill will. If he can sell his shoes for $500, more power to him. I personally won't be purchasing any, but to each his own.

Agree with most of you. I hope Lonzo has a good long career. I just hope his dad doesnt get him hurt or one day he realizes that his dad is only looking out for himself.

Agreed. The only reason I still find it harmless is because I haven't gotten tired of the giggle value yet. When it becomes repetitive and annoying, I'll start raging against the "LaVar-ness" of it all!

Good points, fellas.  I'm lumping them together because Lonzo's the one holding the shoe, and it'll be his brand after all.    Dad's pathetic; and I certainly see the point of not wishing ill will.   Even agree with it to a point.   If he succeeds and he gets his billion dollars (I say no chance with that broken shot, but you never know); you know others will follow suit.   The me first, look at ME mentality of some families makes my stomach turn.   So....I'll go with those that say don't wish ill on the kid.  Okay....I can go with that, and you're right.   But I don't think I wish him a ton of success, either.    I don't want the dad to get that satisfaction.    He'll make plenty of money, and Dad will never have to work again.   I can make both arguments, and probably convince myself either way.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't help but think of Joe Jackson when I see Lavar. (Not "Is She Really Going Out with Him" Joe Jackson, but Micheal's dad.) Both trying to control their kids' future and take full advantage of it.

You said Joe Jackson and I first thought of "Shoeless" Joe.  Couldn't figure out what the heck you were getting at.

Lavar Ball has me so conflicted. Just when I start disliking him he does something to make me like him again. Reporters go at him and then act outraged when he fires back.

I'm confused, that made you like him? If so please explain because that made me dislike him more than I already did.

He was, is, and will always be a jackass.

Yeah. The woman basically implied that Lavar is a bad parent and abuses his kids by saying they're "terrified" of him, and then she wanted to play the "you're disrespectful to women" card when he dared to fire back at her. Plus the 'snacks' joke was pretty funny.

I think he does things that make things harder for his son, but I like that he isn't afraid to speak his mind. It's interesting to watch because these media people aren't used to dealing with someone like him and he makes them uncomfortable.

What she said was true though. He did also basically threaten her, maybe we just have different opinions and thats fine but hes a POS.

He's trying to live all of his delusions about himself through his sons.

To me it seemed like he was saying karma was going to come back and bite her. I do agree about him trying to live vicariously through his kids though. I would hate to have a dad like that.
