If you had to bet your house on one, which would you go with? In the next 10 years CTC will win a National championship here, or he won't. I'm pretty sure with all of his shortcomings I've seen trending the past 6 years, I will bet on the latter. I think I have a better chance of winning the billion dollar bracket challenge this year!
If you had to bet your house on Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan winning a championship in 10 years would you say yes to any of those? Loaded poll question you asked. It's hard to win a championship regardless who you are. I'd bet none of them win if my house were on the line.

There isn't a team in America that if you gave them 10 years, probability would have them higher at a 10% chance. That is why I never understand that argument. I don't think everyone understands how little of a chance you begin with ever if you are the best team in America.

He was SO wrong on the 2012 class that it has (and will continue) to kill us. Hanner, Jurkin and JH have no business being in the B1G.

If Crean was wrong on that class, what do you think Scouts, 24/7, Rivals, ESPN, fans, coaches and players were? Pretty sure EVERYONE had that class ranked extremely high. Can't just place blame on Crean there man.

Perfect example of why those player ratings mean jack squat sometimes. Look at sheehey and oladipo virtually unknowns.

I believe you can. If can get credit for Vic and Will, finding them and them not being rated then he must take the blame for The Movement. It's all the same, rating talent. I think he deserves more time but if he is recruiting by using those services then he is an idiot and should be fired immediately! Everyone listen close, RECRUITING SITES AND MAGAZINES ARE FRAUDS. They are all about making money. They rank kids by who is recruiting them, not by their talent. They change rankings so you have to buy their mags or check their sites all year. DO NOT judge your coach or your recruiting class by these. Judge them on how they develop.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Too early. Too many fans spoiled by the freshmen that blow it up the first year, particularly the one and dones. I'll make a judgement on the class when I see what they are done through their senior seasons. Many a player that hasn't contributed muh as a frosh or soph is a integral starter as a junior/senior. Hanner showed some flashes of solid play this year, and JH might get it put together. Personally I would be a lot happier if we sat a lot of these guys for their first year, and mixed them in after that as they proved they had learned the system and were strong and composed enough for the B1G. This class may not amount to much in the end, but its WAY to early write them off.

No. Just not true. It does have influence though. The rest is accurate. Your next to the last sentence is absolutely true and the most important point!

If you want to judge then by how they develop, don't judge them when their career isn't even half over...

The same was said about the '09 class after 2 years. Creek hadn't played due to injuries. Watford was very similar to Jeremy, but scored more due to necessity. Most thought Jordy was too small to be a player at IU. I am not saying this class will be that, but I think any class that has Yogi on it, can't be considered a disappointment. This is a 4 year class. If players like Hanner get their head straight, and go to the gym, people's perception will change in a hurry.

There is a documentary on HBO about these services and a guy who runs one actually said they change the class rankings because if they kept them the same all the time no one would buy their mag or check their site. Wish I could think if the name of the show but very enlightening on the recruiting process.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Agreed, that's why in another thread that Crean needs 2-3 more years to prove either he can or can't recruit/develop. I am consistent. If I can't judge a freshman after his first year I can't judge a coach that started 3 freshman all year and lost 85% of his offense and 2 NBA players after 1 year.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I wouldn't make the claim that it never happens. But I can point out highly recruited players that have low rankings. I think that generally they are trying to do well at ranking them. However, its a almost impossible job once you get past the first 50-100 players. Is there some business showmanship involved? Yes, I would say so. As you pointed out, they are out to make money.

If this was Creans first year you'd have a point but it's not. He's been here plenty long enough to make a judgement whether it's in favor of or against.

Those first couple years those weren't necessarily his players. Now we are starting to see who he wants. That is the difference for me.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Congrats to Steve Alford for winning the PacTen tournament and getting an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament in His 1st year there. This once again proves how stupid IU is for not hiring Him. Lets review, Head Coaches since Bob Knight: Mike Davis, Dan Dakich, Calvin Sampson and now Tom Crean. None of these guys compare to IU grad and National Champion STEVE ALFORD.

Alford's track record is worse than Crean's. He's never made it past the Sweet 16, at least Crean had that one Final Four that very well may have been a fluke.

What do you mean where it used to be?

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

If he knows IU's history he can't be serious. It's not even possible to say Crean got us back to where we used to be, if he did we wouldn't be having the conversations of if he should be fired or not.

I guess what I meant is that I have very little faith in CTC's ability to get us to the promised land. If we had a competent coach I think I would be more inclined to at least look at that bet. If you have no faith in the current regime, shouldn't appropriate actions commence?
