No reason we can't get 25-30 wins a year on a consistent basis

Other than the fact that the B1G is usually a strong conference and you'd essentially need to go undefeated during nonconference play to accomplish 25-30 wins every year.

Very interesting article from the Indianapolis Business Journal and quotes from people that do get Fred's attention contrary to how some pundits have claimed that it was us little people that got FCTC fired.     [Former Coach Tom Crean]      And FWIW, I had contact with Steve Stitle on more than one occassion when I was gainfully employed many years ago and the man is a straight talker.  Tells it like it is.

Not really

10-3 non conference

13-5 conference

one win in BTT and 1 win in the NCAA tourney. With our resources looks very reasonable. For some coaches a down year.

I am thinking the talk concerning Fife is to bring him in as an assistant. Fred said it himself that there was going to be a good budget for assistants as well. It is time to do the plucking for assistant coaches rather than being plucked.

I was just listening to idiots on the Radio in Louisville.  Said IU fans were the most delusional fan base in the area and we are not close to an elite program.

I would argue that what makes you elite is a combination of a elite fan base (check), elite facilities (check), elite money (check), and elite coach (TBD). All we need is a coach. The talent and winning will return.

They make it sound as if it is impossible to improve our situation and that it is a zero sum game.  Only KY, UofL, Duke, NC, etc. can be elite and how dare we even try.

Pisses me off!!!!

I was just thinking regular season. For context, Bob Knight only won 25 or more games 8 out of 29 seasons at Indiana... let's keep our expectations reasonable haha. (I know they played fewer games earlier on in his time at IU, but you get my point.)

What was Louisville at the end of Denny Crum's tenure? Far from elite. Everyone is one bad coaching hire from mediocrity.

I agree we should expect a coach that can win 25 games consistently. My hope is we see more consistency with the floor much higher. A down year should be in the tourney as a 9-10 seed. That allows the new coach to maintain momentum and not hope the lift starts to take us back up.

25 wins in today's cbb world isn't some amazing feat, as BC pointed out above. 10 noncon wins, 10-12 conference wins, and a handful of wins in both tourneys does it.

IU with a competent coach would d*ckslap most of the college basketball world. And they know it too.

This.  Currently I think IU is a sleeping giant.  Make the right hire and we're right there in the conversation with Duke, UNC, pUKe, etc.

I'm going off a full season that includes btn tournament and ncaa tournament. I don't think 25 wins is out of the question but yeah lets just say 20+ a yr that's very feasable

I don't think anybody expects to win 25-30 games out of the 31 regular season games.

I do think regularly winning 22-26 is more than reasonable.

The comparisons to Alabama football are insane.

Anybody remember LSU fans talking trash about Alabama a decade or so ago.

Yup misunderstood. 25-30 is expected if you get a win or two in each tournament which is what we fired Crean for not doing.

And how many NCAA Championships do they have in the last 30 years...1.

It's ridiculous how fan bases view themselves.  However, to act like Indiana is not an elite program is borderline foolish.
