TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

If I'm Donovan (assuming he is in talks with Glass), I'm asking Glass to increase the budget I have to hire assistant coaches. I personally think college football is a little more ahead of the curve than college basketball when it comes to assistant coaching, as you see with these stacked assistant coaching staffs at your elite programs. Here is what I would target as my assistants:

1) Fife- Good young coach who could develop under Donovan (if he is hired) and IU boy

2) RESPECTED & GOOD AAU or High School coach in the state of Indiana- Would help in state recruiting and has personal connections with the AAU circuit (Some may not be a fan of this but Harabaugh did this at Michigan, Alford does it at UCLA, and I think it would be a great higher if the coach is both respected and good; can't be just anyone)

3) Former coach and/or IU player who has an NBA background- recruits today love to hear how you will get them to the NBA and who they have coached in the league plus they they be great at developing talent (ex: Randy Wittman / Mike Woodson)

I realize a staff like this would be expensive, especially if a guy like Wittman or Woodson were on the staff, but you have to sell them the idea of teaming up and waking up the sleeping giant that is IU basketball (Find me a better college basketball staff). Sell them on the idea of putting egos aside and take over college basketball and working as a TEAM and all success is attributed to them as a whole. I know this may seem like a pipe dream, but you must dream big to accomplish big.

As one of the former guys arguing to give Crean more time: 1) I was wrong, but 2) We may not have won another B1G Title if we had fired him before last season.

Sooo... who knows. And who cares. We're all onboard the same train now. :)

I'd bet he is good friends with some of the players.

If I recall, there used to be a rift between the bball and fball teams because Fuchs was messing around with Hollowell's girl at the time lol

Just saw that too.  He's obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed to pull that stunt. Whether true or not, he had to know better

YES!!!

An example of an IU player who never had leg issues due to extensive "knee-cushioning elements":

He was a little underrated. Yes, he wasn't the greatest at defense. But he had some quick feet for his size, decent moves down-low. His IQ wasn't the greatest on the court, but it was doable.

Bring him back!

On a serious note any prayers you can can say would be great. My wifes mammogram didnt come back good and we are going back for further tests tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's ok but you never know. We will fight either way as she is an awfully strong willed woman.

Absolutely nothing but prayers and positive thoughts for the recker family.

For me, it's the quantity and consistency. Yes, some had previous injuries, but look at the ones throughout the year. Johnson wasn't able to play against NC the last game of last year, OG missed time before his ACL, and Morgan is missing time for other injuries than his shoulder. Vonleh missed several games too. It seems that it is rare to be at full strength under Crean. Players are always in walking boots. Or maybe that's just Crean making excuses.

When we play as fast as he wants your chances of getting hurt increase

He had a skilled offensive game. That picture had DJ in it also; championship caliber team.
