TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

Crean will not be gone this year. It's a fact. Plus no big time coach would come here if he was fired a year after winning the big ten.

I'm ready to move on from crean aswell. But it's not happening this year.

Correct. We sre stuck with him.

That's why Mark Cuban needs to hire him as an assistant for the mavs. Come on Mark you claim to be a fan. Pretty sure the towel and water boys need their own assistant coach.

I keep hearing everyone say we are stuck with Crean. We don't have to be. Stop going to the games. Literally, empty half of Assembly Hall for these conference games and watch him be gone by end of season.

Problem is, Crean has us all by the balls because we know more than likely he has a run up his sleeve. We know he is going to make some noise again soon and we are all going to be tuned in and hollaring along.

That is the saga with Crean at the helm... and I don't know what to do about it anymore.

Incorrect.

Glass just fired Kevin Wilson after he took us to back-to-back bowl games and consecutive 6-win seasons for the first time in forever.  Reasons are different, but it proves he's not afraid to pull the trigger when he feels it's necessary.

Anyone saying Glass is tied to Crean is just being pessimistic.

Winning B1G championships is nice, but everyone (including prospective college coaches) knows success at Indiana is determined by what you do in the tournament.  If Crean is here 8 years and never can get us past the Sweet 16, people know that isn't acceptable.

Recker, went from the most optimistic poster in history and that we were going to destroy Butler and Nebraska and beat Lousiville to the "Glass and Crean lovefest".

So, Recker, how do you feel about this team now that you were so optimistic about? Honestly curious.

Admittedly, I too, thought we were a lot better than we actually are.

I fell into the trap believing some of our players are better than they actually are.

This season is a bonafide head scratcher.

Because of the type of kid that Crean is bringing in and the relative success that he has had, I am quite sure that Glass does not want to fire Crean.
However, if this year is again a disappointment, and with the buyout dropping substantially, that option is certainly on the table.
Glass won't even consider it until he sees the full scope of the results by the end of March.

Much Much harder to win predictably at the highest levels with the types of kids that Crean is getting to sign.

Gotta win with coaching and cohesion.

I could tell our kids were shell shocked and scared after 3 possessions yesterday. We knew we weren't the better team.

That's why they celebrated so hard beating Kansas. They shocked themselves pulling that off.

We don't have alpha dogs who are the best of the AAU circuit. They KNOW other teams have better and more talented players because they have played with and against them.

Only winning will build confidence for under recruited kids.

im not recker but I will give u my thoughts. I feel the same about this team as I did at the beginning of the season. I didn't get to high on the first game of the year against Kansas and didn't get to low with a loss at IPFW. The concerns with this team coming into the season by the national media was point guard play. The wins against Kansas and North Carolina took the focus off this problem but if u follow college basketball closely u know how big of problem this can cause. This might be cliche but iu is not as bad as the team that lost to ipfw and Nebraska and they are not as good as the team that beat Kansas. Somewhere in the middle.

Disagree on one level;
We start two 5 stars, and multiple four stars see heavy rotation minutes. Lack of talent will not have been the primary issue if the Crean era ends.

True, but there is another elite level above kids we've been getting which I believe is what Wayne is talking about. For instance we couldnt compete with Duke or UNC last year. I think we can all see now why JBJ and TB didnt go to UK.

I think the real issue with our 5 stars is they don't get any better after they set foot on campus. Crean has nothing to offer players who already have that much ability.

Like Skal Labiasierre? Bryant did more than fine against the number one recruit in last year's class.

I think we are closer to the team that lost to IPFW and Nebraska, then we are to the one that beat Kansas.  Not in the middle.  The problem is that ceiling and floor are miles apart instead of feet.

So u think they are a team closer to missing the tournament entirely instead of team that gets a mediocre seed? Somewhere in the middle is a team that will make the tournament with a 5-9 seed line. A team that loses to Nebraska and IPFW doesn't make the tournament and a team that beats Kansas and North Carolina gets a top 3 seed in my opinion
