IUMBB @ Wisconsin Game Thread - Sun. 2/5 @ 1:00 ET on CBS

We play fast when there is no need and play slow when we need to play fast. That makes perfect sense.

The foul shots at home vs road for Wiscy isn't as great as you might think. They get a lot of calls on the road with the combo of Happ and Hayes.

This looked like a winnable game as it was unfolding, especially after digging out of the early hole. But the same untimely mistakes and boneheaded play sealed the loss. Wisconsin was not good today and we let them off the hook.

We could play that game 100 times and it would be similar. We had a good chance at home against them and made stupid mistakes down the stretch. It's what Crean teams do..

Dont let this game fool you. We may get Purdue at home since its the rivalry and all but other than that I still dont think we beat a good team rest of the year.

I'm not fooled.

Even you think about the last decade of Indiana basketball, just how many close games have we won? How many coming back from 5 with 5 minutes left? The only one close game for me that's comes to mind is Michigan there for the Big. Guess what Crean does after winning? Picks a fight with their bench afterwards. You know what he's thinking and it isn't about adding #6. Those close games are where the rubber meets the road, earning a paycheck,  being an Indiana coach.

I believe they made a comeback at MSU that same season too. The Watshot game after giving up a lead.

When games come down to the wire mental toughness separates the men from the boys. I don't think I've witnessed a Crean team that is mentally tough. I've never been confident IU would get a stop down the stretch to either seal a victory or get the ball back to score. In this case, why not start fouling earlier to hope for a few misses? I mean run some trap defense and foul if they break it.

The last real comeback I can think of is the Notre Dame game last year in Indy. Down double digits at half, got down by 15 or so then chipped at the lead then somehow ended up winning going away. ND ended up getting to the Elite 8 so they weren't some cupcake that ran out of gas or whose scheme had run flat.
