#5 Indiana v. #243 Liberty... Mutual? Post-game thread

You could do it without leaving the state. Ball State, Evansville, Indiana State, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, Toledo, etc.

Man I would love this, and to take it a step further, we should pull out of the stupid Crossroads Classic in favor of a larger-scale tournament with better teams, and instead the early season "gimme" games should be against any 2 of Valpo, Butler, IUPUI, Evansville, Notre Dame, Ball State, or Indiana State.

This has to happen.  It's a win-win because we'd still be able to host and travel to other Indiana schools for state-wide exposure, but more importantly help our RPI and national relevance by playing those teams instead of cupcakes and also appearing in a better nonconference tournament with schools like Duke, UK, UCLA, etc.

From Indiana Basketball:   As far back as our game-by-game rebounding records go (1972), last night's +35 (55-20) margin is the largest.

Wow. I know we turned it over a lot that game but we did a lot of good things. Especially considering we didn't play our starters all that much.

What was with Bryant in the Liberty game?  Only takes 4 shots, 2 of which were three pointers.  Only 3 rebounds and 7 turnovers! He was almost a half foot taller than most anyone on the Liberty team guarding him, yet he spent a good deal of the time on offense standing/playing beyond the three point arc.  This was a game where he should have easily had 20 and 10, and dominated the paint.

Agree. Too much Bryant trying to drive and such.

Post up big man.

My guess is the staff wanted him to work on that part of his game and figured it was a safe game to try it.

Although, when guarded by smaller quicker types it's illogical.

I thought the Crossroads Classic was IU, Butler, Notre Dame and Purdue?  Don't you mean the Indiana Classic, which is all these cupcake teams? I think the in-state schools should play each other regardless.  It'd be fun.

Yeh not a good matchup for him, but honestly, I don't mind it in throw away games like that. He gained plenty of filmed lessons to learn instead of a bogus double double.

That said, TB's footwork is not the slickest. Hard for me to imagine him ever really being all that effective driving from the perimeter.

I think we need to feed the post more for Bryant and Davis. Utilize that size down low. I feel like we have the size but Crean isn't using it as much as we should

Hard to say since we haven't faced a team with an impressive post presence. UNC will be a good look into how Crean plans to adjust his strategy, if at all, against bigger teams.

Love Davis' agility in the post. He's huge, but really sneaky. Really excited to watch him develop.
