Most Important 2017 Recruits

Until Tremont Waters actually shows up on Georgetown's campus, I'm still holding out hope we land him in the end.

I know he's already signed, but I don't care.  Thompson is getting fired this year because Georgetown is terrible.  He was already on the hot seat to begin with which is why he felt the need to "retool the offense" to keep people optimistic, but it clearly isn't working.

They're currently 1-2 with home losses to an ok Maryland team and Arkansas State.  They also play Oregon tomorrow and should lose that game too, paving the way for 2 straight seasons of being left out of the NCAA tournament.

Fingers crossed.

Agreed he will be back in play, hes going to be the new coaches top priority though.  Also While UCLA is winning its games, they don't look all that good.    Still think it would be awesome to still land Wilkes and Waters.

Don't expect to get Wilkes or Waters. Ain't happening imo. We are already recruiting a new plethora of unheraldeds.

Yeah, sad face.

This is why when people were giddy with excitement a month ago talking about having enough room for a class with Wilkes, Waters, and Preston, or any combination of 2 of the three, I was taking more of a wait-and-see approach.

It reminded me of 2014 when a lot of fans thought our class was going to consist of at least 2 of James Blackmon, Trey Lyles, Cliff Alexander, and Tyus Jones.

It's never as good as we think it's going to be unfortunately.  It's highly likely we're going to sign one more kid in the spring that we've never even heard of yet.

But hey, we should focus more on the fact we have a hell of a team this year, rather than worry about our recruiting.

I know.  What concerning to me is that we aren't even going after unheraldeds that fill a need.  Since we knew we were missing on Wilkes other than Preston every single 2017 recruit we have sniffed around has been 6-7 or below.  We go plenty of players for the 1-3 coach, we need a backup for Davis and Morgan next year.

Do you guys ever think the reason he isn't recruiting a specific area is because maybe a player you guys expecting to leave can come back? I mean, he does have more inside info than us on the current state of affairs.

Do you think Bryant is coming back.  Its rare enough for a guy projected to get drafted to even come back let alone to do it twice.

It's a very strong draft. He isn't athletic enough to be guaranteed a 1st round spot. He has to dominate. We will be a better team if he is a first rounder, but I don't think it's a lock he is.

Fair points. I still think he's gone if not we should be right back in the thick of things next year

Could be but last time we were in a similar situation we lost two of the better 6-9+ players. I guess we could expect Moore or Morgan to be our starting center next season..

Interesting to note while early Thomas is having a down year from last year. According to a number of advanced metrics.

Yeah, noticed this too. He had a great first half against Kansas but only had 5 shots and 4 shots in the last two games, respectively. He needs to get more inside touches than he is currently. We have a lot of guys that can score but Thomas should be a focal point of the offense when he's out there as he can be deadly on the block.

Wonder how much having a guy like Yogi helped him last year.
