    Troy had 29 points on 8-15 FG, 4-7 3FG, 9-12 FT, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals in 24 minutes tonight. 4 turnovers.

This is good discussion. The more Crean's tenure wore on, the less I saw leadership in players. After Hulls/Oladipo/Zeller/Ferrell; the only real leader I saw was Max Bielfelt. We always had leaders...just fewer and fewer. I think Crean's style really wore on kids. I think that's part of the reason he's no longer here. He had successes here and there, but the more he lost and the hotter his seat became, it seemed the more quick triggered he got. I talked recently to a former player who told me they routinely had 15+ different new offensive sets for every game; and defense was always opponent dependent (when to help, off what spot, when to zone, what zone, what BOB defense, what press, if any, etc). It has to be hard to lead on a team with no real identity and no focus. How do you lead shotgun pellets? My point is simply I'm not sure how much Crean's style played into some of these kids' ability or desire to lead. Crean is so high-strung and jittery on the sideline, I don't know how any kid could feel comfortable leading for him. Newkirk has a clean slate. Johnson, too. But this season? It's Hartman's team. The other seniors can lead by example and I'm sure they'll have other opportunities. This whole program has a much-needed fresh start, and I'm looking forward to seeing how things play out.

Just watched an ESPN Classic replay of the 2013 Hoosiers winning at MSU. My goodness Victor Oladipo was special as an Indiana Hoosier.

Troy is playing really well. Game high 15 points on 4-6 shooting. 2 minutes till the half. Has been all over the floor, making good defensive plays.

(2018) SF Musa Jallow to Ohio State

Committed to OSU. It looks like he's reclassifying into '17 as well. The reclass honestly makes this more palatable to me. Justin Smith is the better prospect in the same position.

Based on how he treats players/people in general? Nothing in that article surprises me. The guy is a great basketball mind, but also a raging hypocrite with a horrific temper. Oh, and he also once told a female reporter that if rape is inevitable, you should lay back and enjoy it.

Next week kicks off the July evaluation period and the 3 major AAU circuits are all in action. The Nike EYBL has its season finale the Peach Jam scheduled for July 12-16. Most of the EYBL kids we’ve offered or are following play on teams that qualified for the Peach Jam. Two notable exceptions are Keion Brooks and Kofi Cockburn whose teams failed to qualify. Adidas has its Gauntlet Finale July 12-15 in Spartanburg, SC, and Under Armour has its UAA Finals July 12-15 in Atlanta. I’ll post stats at the end of each day’s games or early the following morning depending upon how late in the evening the games run.

Leadership is an undervalued ability for athletes in certain sports. I believe we have several players that are being good followers that will emerge as leaders as they become upperclassmen. Davis seems more of the quiet leader that will pull a guard or wing aside and give instructions how to get him the ball. As an upperclassman I can see him having a stronger voice. Green is an interesting case because of position and playing time. I really hope he is being groomed to take over the PG position in the future. If he does I could see him becoming an extension of CAM on the floor. Durham feels like a natural born leader regardless of where he plays. He'll be the guy that bails you out of a bad situation around campus and then rip into you when you're in the clear. He might not be the most heralded recruit but he has a desire to win. These are all observations from afar. It'll be interesting to see how this develops. Watford was a quiet leader but had his moments. When he went nuts at the end of the first half vs. VCU in the round of 32 game I knew we would win. He rarely got heated but when he did it meant something.

It's not too uncommon. I didn't really care for academics in high school. I could have graduated in the summer between my junior and senior year if they would have allowed me to take senior English. I'm sure Jallow is a good stupid and obviously was presented a similar option. Best of luck to the young man but I hope O$U racks up the Ls.

Honestly getting Colin to come back was more important than Rojo. I know Rojo will put up better stats, but Colin will put players in the right spot or discuss where a mistake was made. You need those types of players that are an extension of a coach on a good team. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I'm torn on Crean's future. On one hand, I want him to coach somewhere so we can play his team and embarrass them. On the other, the longer he stays unemployed, the more egg the media will have on their faces for saying we made a mistake or that he got a raw deal.
