DERON DAVIS!

He is the least Hanner-like big man I have ever seen!!

  • No hops
  • great vision
  • wide backside
  • instinctive passer
  • plays angles
  • excellent instincts
  • not that fast
  • in control
  • great feel for the game

It is great to have a young big who is a "not-Hanner" style player. NOT a project big with this young fella.

That sounds like a Noah Vonleh description.  I'll take it.  Except this one has better defensive abilities

Way, way less quick and outside-oriented than Vonleh.

Way, way better court sense than Vonleh.

We'll see.  I do like the comparison though.  They both are very court aware with big backsides.  They seem to find the ball because they're always in the middle

Summary:

DEVONTE GREEN!!!

That kid can ball. Great dribbling. Just smooth.

TB- similar to what we saw last season. Good/great. Didn't dominate post as much as he could have.

Newkirk- I didn't love his game tonight. Good defense. Not a smooth dribbler. We'll see. Need to see more.

Blackmon- very likely going to be our leading scorer. We need to get me more open looks.

RoJo- looked good to me. Similar to last year. Deserves a lot of minutes.

Morgan- love his hustle and rebounding. Want to see a bit more offense. Dribbles very well. Not a PG.

DeRon Davis- going to be a good addition. Great length. Stuhoo gave a great break down of DD!

CuJo- SO Fast! Smooth. Faster than Newkirk. Good shooter. Lots of upside.

Gelon- eh. Project player. Limited minutes. Not going to be confident enough to help anytime soon.

OG- love him. Much better shooting. Dont want him settling. Need him going to rim and scoring in all 3 phases. A bug on defense like normal.

Overall-

Sloppy to be expected. Not strong as a defensive unit yet. Tons of open looks. Our offense has an odd look to it without Yogi. We will form an identity but we haven't yet. As I said earlier today, we will shoot a ton of 3s all year. Hockey lineups are chaotic but it's a perfect chance to look at players and combinations. And Devonte Green..........
