One last thought: I don't hate Notre Dame. Kind of like the Colts, my "2nd" favorite team I "root" for in CF. That being said...Indiana CAN beat them. Notre Dame can't throw the football. Our defense has been incredible against the run this year. I think that's a very good matchup for IU. Maybe the best possible one? Am I wrong to be that optimistic?

These a-holes always conveniently neglect to mention the Alabama losses.

They lost to Vandy and Oklahoma which is like losing to Washington and Nebraska. Why the F isn’t that brought up? If Bama was wearing an IU jersey, with the same results, they would be in the “others getting votes” category.

They didn’t  just lose to Oklahoma either, they scored 3 points against them. That’s effectively getting shutout by a 5-5 team. That’s a really bad loss.

Bama vs SMU. Who should get in the playoff ?

HELLO, the NCAA only has ONE mandate and that mandate is $$$$$$$$$.

They have an insatiable desire for more $$$$$$$$$$ and the Bama/brand name/SEC  TV ratings/matchups are why Bama will get in instead of SMU. It’s really not that hard to figure out.

ESPN ‘s 13 ‘experts’ basically have IU with an opponent of either Texas, Ohio State or Notre Dame in the first round.

I would prefer:

1) ND

2) TX

3) OSU

In any case, we were picked to finish 17th in the BT and are going to the playoffs!! Mind blown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’d add like 15 empty lines between 2 and 3 but you are right.

I have a feeling we end up with

5 - ND

6- OSU

7 - Texas

8 - PSU

9 -Tenn

10 - IU

Maybe I am just hopeful.  Because Georgias QB situation is sketchy. Although could also see them changing it up for “reasons” to avoid another Georgia Texas game

I just don’t think they will drop TX that far down with an overtime loss in the SEC championship game. They were number 2. Putting them below OSU and ND who didn’t have to play an extra game seems like a bad precedent. I’d say TX goes to the 5-seed. Same sentiment for PSU losing a close one to Oregon. Think the committee tries not to punish them and keeps them at 6. If you start dropping runners up in championship games 4-5 places there’s gonna be more backlash and potential teams forfeiting games in the future.

I have

5 - Texas

6 - PSU

7 - ND

8 - OSU

9 - TN

10 - IU

11- Clemson

12- SMU/Bama

It’s possible but will speak to their hypocrisy even more. PSU played two teams with a ranking. At home and neutral field. Lost both.  Texas played Georgia twice and lost both.

If OSU gets to be ahead of us despite a terrible loss to somebody we beat. Same logic should apply to them being ahead of PSU.  If they drop PSU that far they should drop TX that far too.

But realistically they are going to pick the best matchups for ratings then write the narrative however they want

About half of the "experts" also have Ohio St, Tennessee, and Indiana shuffled from their current ranking even though the committee said idle teams would not move relative to each other. These people are morons.

Fox Sports' analyst has this.

I LOVE it for us, but it makes little sense. There's no way we leapfrog Tennessee after neither us played. I don't see Clemson jumping all the way to a bye. Previous rankings had Boise with a bye. They won't lose that spot after a two-touchdown win in the MW title game.

Seems elementary to me. I don't understand how anyone could think ND should be ahead of PSU and Texas.

NBC begs to differ.

If you aren't dropping SMU out because of their loss, which I agree with...

How could you penalize PSU and Texas for playing GREAT games against Oregon and Georgia? Texas should have flat out beat Georgia and PSU didn't play their cleanest game.

Plus... both of their resumes are just better. It just doesn't make sense for ND to be ranked ahead of those teams because they played in a championship.

Of course, NDs ranking never really ever made sense.

Another big winner from tonight: Arizona State.

They go from barely getting in to probably getting a bye.

The automatic byes are so dumb because of situations like this. 1 bye will go to teams that wouldn't have been in as an at large bid and the possibility is there for more than 1.

Dang. It sure would have been funny to see PU lose their top choice to UCF.

Just a heads up, RJ Young also had us the worst ranked Big Ten team in his preseason ranking.
