Demo Posted June 3 Posted June 3 NBA draft Twitter in a nutshell: Just read some “draft analyst” in writing up Cameron Carr extolling his “high vertical functional athletics.” That would be some top shelf parody except for the part about how it wasn’t. Quote
Demo Posted June 13 Posted June 13 NBA draft twitter maintaining its unbroken record of utter stupidity. Acuff’s full season sample size while receiving the best coaching of his career and playing against the best competition of his career may not really be reflective of where his shooting is because shamelessy chucking up whatever he felt like at Cass Tech and IMG indicates those numbers may just be a 36 game heater. Demo Posted June 13 Posted June 13 So, if Kohler was something he’s not…..he’d be something he’s not? Ok Sorry, but I’m obsessing on this today and no one’s home to distract me. There may be a few of these. Class of '66 Old Fart and Stuhoo 2 Quote
Demo Posted June 13 Posted June 13 So, 2 of the top 5 players in a really, really good draft are, 1) a 20min/night kid from the WCC who’s so athletic that he had 4 shots blocked against UK in the tournament, and, 2) a kid who’s played 60 mins in the last 16 months because he has a knee thing that some UK people are suggesting may be an early onset arthritis situation down the road and, btw, can’t shoot a lick and the stroke’s a problem. Kid’s being paid exactly what his opinion is worth. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

Demo Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Props where they’re due. This guy’s board is a little funky but has the virtue of Wilkerson at 45. Quote
Demo Posted June 13 Posted June 13 My new favorite. Putting aside that he’s nothing at all like Mitchell, Brown’s floor is a more athletic version of a guy who’s played a million years and given you 20 a night. Home Jersey 1 Quote

Someone with the floor of McCollum and ceiling of Mitchell would be #1 most years. With Brown's low back injuries already at age 20, his floor is needing a walker with tennis balls on the legs in a decade. Demo 1 Quote

Assuming the back stuff isn’t a thing Brown is probably my PG-1 because he can facilitate on the move in a way none of these other guys come close to. But he has some of the Caitlin Clark thing where he just doesn’t really value possession and that’s a problem if they’re the one orchestrating everything. You’d have to believe he’s coachable. Take note of the dude dinging Lendeborg for being too inclined to making the right basketball play over taking over possessions. Yeah, I’ll take my chances with that flaw, thanks. Quote

You gave up every single young asset you had other than Bam for a thirty couple year old with a sketchy back to become, what, the 5th best team in the East? They have almost no shooting and a really thin bench. Giannis is still great but they’re not winning anything with that group. Ok for the Bucks, I guess, depending on the return when they inevitably flip Herro. Hovadipo 1 Quote

Ok for the Bucks, I guess, depending on the return when they inevitably flip Herro. I watch a lot of Heat games and I think I disagree. Winning titles is all about having two or more all-league type players. The Heat now have two; Giannis and Bam. Sure, they're sorta duplicative, but still. And Giannis is 31 years old; that leaves about five more years of his prime. They gave away a good part of their 'decent team' rotation, but the only player they gave up who could truly be impactful is Kelel, and he's gonig to need significant additional development to get there. I've seen enough of Herro and Jaquez - both are having long careers in the league, but neither is a championship level player. Finding another Herro or Jaquez on the free agent market is just not that tough. Quote

I agree that they got much better, but it's really hard to see this move vaulting them to any better than 3rd in the east. Quote

They've been a play-in team for the last four straight years. If they can get to third in the East the trade was a great idea. Quote
Hovadipo Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I'm no more worried about the new-look Heat than I was about the last handful of Bucks teams. Looks to me like they're going to run into a lot of the same problems with the current roster. They do have the benefit of having a miles better coach on the bench than Milwaukee ever had. Quote

You may well be right, but I just look at a guy who has to play with the ball a lot and is looking to get to the rim all the time and the shooters around him are Wiggins, Bam, Powell’s ok, and Mitchell and that feels like a pretty bad spacing problem. But Spoelstra’s great so I’m sure he’ll maximize everything they have. Stuhoo 1 Quote

That's a far easier fix than 'this roster is permanently stuck as a 6-10 seed.' Quote

"Nori played for IU baseball from 1994-97, and later returned in 2005 for a short stint as Indiana’s hitting coach, before eventually joining the Toronto Raptors as an assistant coach in 2009" That is a different turn in careers. Going from a college baseball coach to an assistant coach in the NBA. Quote
