Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I would love a recruiting class built around Phinisse and Jallow as the headliners. Then let Crean do his magic filling out the class finding under-the-radar guys like he has with OG, Morgan, Durham and Moore. I understand the deflated expectations because of recent misses with five star kids, but I don't think it is fair. If we land Tucker, 2017 will turn out to be an excellent class on paper after most Hoosier fans wrote it off as a failure. No reason to believe we won't get the right guys in 2018 as well. I just wish we wouldn't waste our time running after Garland and Langford, and instead signal to Phinisse and Jallow that they are top targets. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appWith a Tucker commit we would move up to 13th. Definitely not a bad class by no means. Crean has always had a top 25 class sides the one with Victor and Sheehey which turned out pretty well for us. I think we all need to step back and let Crean do his job without criticism. He hasn't gave us a reason too so far. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

That amazing 2012 class ranked in the top 10 turned out a single productive player and a few years of embarrassing incidents. That's a good call though, let's give him a free pass. Quote

This isn't the thread for it but the list of knocks on Crean is long and valid. Quote

On the other hand Im a little disappointed. Means we are just sweet sixteen relevant for another year. No real star power or size down low. Means we wont match up well against a really good and physical team like we always meet in the sweet sixteen. Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Brad Stevens isnt coming after this year. It only becomes a legit possibility after next year if the Celtics dont make noise in the playoffs then Ainge will move on. If we dont ger Stevens i dont want anyone else. If there is a better legit option thats out there then I would love to hear it. I don't see us finding a better coach with what is out there.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I have no idea if we're still looking at Khalid Moore or not. http://www.zagsblog.com/2017/01/06/khalid-moores-breakout-game-leads-molloy-past-christ-king-electric-atmosphere/ "(Moore) The 6-foot-6 junior wing enjoyed the best game of his career with 21 points and 9 rebounds as Molloy beat Christ the King, 78-67, amid a highly-charged atmosphere that saw school officials turning away fans, and at least one college coach, at the doors before the game on the orders of fire marshals." Also mentioned in the article is Jose Alvarado who had an IU offer but opted to commit to Ga Tech. Quote

Uspshoosier Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Breaking: Scout.com says it will be filing a $9.5 million stalking horse bid from CBS.CBS owns 247sports.com. This would mean big consolidation in the recruiting site space.CBS' bid is only a baseline for the bankruptcy auction. Other parties certainly could come in.Could get interesting in the recruiting world Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ccgeneral 1 Quote

Francis is showing his ability to score and distribute, and continues to rack up high-major interest and offers.About his season, Francis said, “The year has been great. We’ve were undefeated for a while, so we have a great team and we are working hard to be as good as we can be, and hopefully win a state title.”Jeremiah Francis6'1" / 190 lbsPG RANKNROFFERS3He continued, “I’ve been working on being someone who scores from all three levels. I know I have to get better in the mid-range, and also I am working hard on my pull ups and floaters in the lane so I can be effective there without big guys blocking my shot.”On the recruiting side of things Francis is taking it all in, but already numerous schools have stepped forward with offers and interest.“I’ve been talking to Purdue, Indiana, Miami, Creighton, Ohio State, Nebraska, West Virginia, Ohio University, and a few other schools,” listed Francis.Francis is a legacy recruit for Ohio State. His father played for the Buckeyes in the 80’s, and Francis says he stays in touch with the coaching staff, though at this point there is no offer.“My mom and my dad graduated from there so it is all in the family,” said Francis of Ohio State. “It is in the bloodlines, so of course it would be really good to have the opportunity to go there.”When it comes to his communication with the staff, Francis said, “My dad and Coach (Chris) Jent are really close and they always talk. I love Coach Jent. We’ve been talking, it has mostly been me and Coach Jent talking.”One school that has offered and is making Francis is a major focus is Purdue. The Boilermakers have been extremely active in the recruitment, and continue to build a good relationship with Francis.“I love Purdue,” said Francis of the Boilermakers. “I went there when I was younger when they were going through a lot of construction, and now that I see it today and see the campus it is great. You can walk to the gym from the dorms, and I know it is a place I can get better, so I like it a lot.”Also Indiana has picked up the interest in Francis. The Hoosiers continue to show attention, and he likes the atmosphere around Bloomington.“I know a lot about Indiana,” explained Francis. “It is a basketball state, and the atmosphere is great there. Coach (Tom) Crean is a great coach, and I talk to the assistants a lot. I think it is a good school.”For now Francis says he is in no hurry to select a school, but he is looking to continue to build relationships, and improve on his game.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ccgeneral and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Not really an option for us, but looks like MJ Walker is trending towards UCLA. We expressed interest but never went anywhere. Alford has an amazing class coming in with him. Back to back and looks like their program is back. Alford took his sweet time but he may have it under control now. Ike & Leaf are potential 1st rounders like Ball but if they come back they will be a heavy favorite for top 3 preseason. Just maybe this year or next if he can show fans he can make it far in the tourney he will become a big target to replace crean if we get rid of him.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
