(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

It just doesn’t seem like Romeo matters to the fans at all. Maybe it’s just the boards I’m seeing, but it’s like there’s no excitement for him being a target. They are just all in on Grimes. Plus there’s no Midnight Madness for them, there’s no football game that is going to be any good. I think that once he gets home and looks back at all the visits, we are gonna stand above. I know that’s not the only thing about a visit, but having 12k people cheering and going crazy for you is gonna stick.

However, just like at IU he will be a celebrity on campus. Self has plenty he can sell based on how many players he has put in the pros. His teams are always top 10 and Allen Fieldhouse is an amazing atmosphere. Lots of similarities I'm just glad there is no late night or bball game this weekend.

Archie has been a head coach for six years. He can show recruits an on court product. Three other top 100 players didn't need to see Archie coach a game before committing.

A little different being head coach at Dayton compared to IU don’t you think? A lot easier convincing a borderline top 100 kid on a vision since he is going to be a 4 year player then it is a top 10 one and done recruit don’t you think?

Jerome is not a borderline top 100 kid. Archie can sell his vision because he implemented it at Dayton. He turned that program into a consistent NCAA tournament team that made a couple of decent runs.

Ok I didn’t realize he was a one and done. Composite ranking of 63 seems closer to 100 then top 10

Or they just need to be on the job longer then 8 months and actually coach a game first so they can show them on the court results instead of an idea.

Both aspects here make sense.

However, I think most people see Archie as a somewhat experienced head coach with success at a lower level. Yes, D1 with impressive NCAA appearances, but a lower level nonetheless. This gives rise to the undeniable potential we're all clamoring to see turn to reality, a product. The potential turns to product once it's seen on the court of play at the highest level of the college game, playing within the B1G and against other major conference teams.

So yes, I feel the majority might like to see him in action since he's coaching at a higher level now. I think most top players would rather commit to a product rather than unproven potential.

That being said, and we've all been thinking it.... Man, just look at what that potential could bring!

KU may take both but a lot of that talk was before Dotson committed. Not sure of scholly situation but Graham, Preston, Svi and I am sure I'm missing someone. They have 2 frontcourt guys and Dotson right now. Maybe Newman leaves but that still doesn't add up. There is a legit reason Grimes took more notice to UK I promise ya it had mostly to do with Romeo, Herro and Simons being targets. They have Garrett, Moore, Dotson and Newman if he stays, but Grimes wants to play some 2 so that helps their case a bit, but I trust from tidbits one is the likely scenario. Grimes has said he wants to play with A LOT of kids.

I will say there hasn't been a thing that I have heard that I couldnt post on the forum so that should be welcome news. I will keep the updates flowing as much as possible. BTW most KU guys still believe at this moment Romeo will be hard to get.

Minutes won't be a problem for Romeo if he goes there unless he goes with Grimes. Can't see both going with more minutes available at IU and probably even UK. Newman, Moore and Dotson are more PG/CG's. Vick is a SG with limited offense. Garrett is a freshman so too early to tell how good he is. He was ranked around #50 out of high school.  Romeo would easily be the best SG on that team. I wouldn't be surprised if Newman leaves too.

Yeah I think Newman will be gone too. Was expecting to be a one and done and now in his 3rd year. Unless he just plays bad this year, but I think he is a great fit at KU and yeah Romeo will play anywhere he wants to go lol. Who knows maybe Herro has heard the Grimes and UK talk and decides to talk to KU more. Same with Simons. Way too many moving pieces honestly. It's still early we should know more soon.

In a Facebook live Q and A, Meyer said Kansas would take all 3 at the time of Dotson committing.

I think Newman wanted to be a one and done as well. I'm expecting him to have a big year. Forgot KU also has the Lawson brothers next year. They are sitting out with Moore this year. Know they don't play the same position as Romeo but there will be a lot of guys wanting the ball for KU. They came off as very selfish to me at Memphis. Like you said lots of moving parts here with three or four recruits with multiple blue bloods involved. I still like our chances with Romeo but Self is dangerous. This certainly is not a sure thing for us.

Of course they would. Doesn't mean 3 5 stars at similar positions will want to tho. Cunliffe was a top 50 kid and plays on the wing so he will get minutes as well. Herro is planning on taking an official soon as well. I have heard he will be there at the start of their season.

No way Dotson, Cunliffe, Romeo, Moore, Garrett, Herro and Grimes and maybe Vick and Newman if they stay or go would be happy with that situation. That is potentiall 9 kids all ranked in the top 100. Moore played awesome for Cal and Vick has over played his ranking too. Only so many kids can have great enough years to go pro after this year. Romeo being able to play the 3 helps a lot because he will only have Cunliffe taking minutes there, but KU plans on playing a lot of 3 guard lineups this year and probably next. If KU somehow got all 3, Self has entered a new level as a Head Coach lol. Romeo could very well end up there and think they still have a shot but I think our chances are almost just as good as they were before the visit.

Completely agree. Would be shocked if they got 2....3 would be unbelievable.

KJ Lawson is also a small forward.

Hunter is from Ohio, Archie had a previous relationship with him. One of the reasons we got him.

I know, but he quickly made relationships with Rob, Damezi, and Forrester too.

While I somewhat agree with your premise, two of those guys are in-state kids. All IU needed was a good coach and those kids would seriously consider them again

I believe Romeo playing for IU, if only for a year or two, would have a similar impact on younger Hoosiers as Damon Bailey and Calbert Cheaney did on me.

Those are 4 year players tho. I'd compare to Eric Gordon
