(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky

Recommended Posts

Not really a source just heard they have been the two best players and split back and forth a lot. Assumed that meant he was the beholder of the gold jersey a few times from that. Either way gold jersey or not, Jones has been much improved and consitent jumper away from being one of our best scorers and Green looks like one of best players period. I'm not as worried as others are about our guards next year. Will be fun to see what Al can do if he gets to play against Indy.

I concur

Yeah no way we get both. One would be enough for me though. Love the player 11 reference hahahaha. That sounds like a tough frontcourt. Balsa aka player 11 could be special and Carey is obviously very good!! I have heard Watford needs to get stronger. Same with big bro. Brooks gets the nod for me, being in state. Him and TJD are my top 2 guys unless we get into good graces with Wiseman or Anthony. Lots can change by then though. Green could be our pg or RP or even Al and I wouldn't think Anthony would be a bigger need than a big or wing. This year will give us a better picture. Like you said last year, I dont see Jones caring about the gold jersey or anything similar and now he has made it a goal. I love hearing that. Ready to see our rotation with everyone healthy.

Speaking of Al Durham, do you know anything about his progression?  Is he looking very good?

I'm hoping Brooks pays us a few more visits for games this season before he makes a decision.  I'm sure TJD will, and I'd love for the both of them to be the cornerstone of our frontcourt for the future.

...

Check out the video of Archie previewing UIndy. Someone asked about Newkirk, and Archie started talking about how things will be better when Al gets back. Sounds like Al is in line for a lot if playing time.

Start watching at the 5:00 for the Newkirk/Al comments.

I have heard Archie loves his demeanor and his toughness on defense. His shot has come along nicely too. They really want him to work on being quicker with the ball. He puts his head down too often when he gets in the lane as well, but sounds like it is all minor things that will come along with more practice and experience in game. I think our guard depth is too much for him to make a instant impact, but he will see minutes and give us a nice lift off the bench when he is called on.

As for TJD he will DEFINITELY be making a trip or two to see us play this year. I expect Keion too as well. I like our chances with both of them. TJD really sounds like he wants to be a Hoosier, but it's still early. We will be in a battle for Brooks. He sounds like he is open to more schools jumping in and not just to rack up the offers so I don't think IU or MSU is a clear favorite yet. Schilling will probably change that eventually though. He worries almost every school involved from his relationships with the family.

Here you go again ... but I like it!

Everything I’ve seen says TJD will be a Hoosier. It’s not set in stone but I’d be shocked if he goes anywhere else. Keion will be more of a battle. I agree with people that say that. But in the end, the relationship with Schilling will win it for IU

This is a very important recruit. Lock up the two in-state kids Keion and TJD and get Watford as well. That’s the ideal three man class for 2019

My gut tells me that we end up with TJD, Brooks, and Matthew Hurt. Trendon goes to Bama.

If the speculation about Trendon and Keion not wanting to play on the same team is true, then yes Matthew Hurt would be the ideal third recruit for that class. It’s gonna be a three man class. I don’t see more than that

I personally want Hurt the most of all of them. I want the best players we can possibly get and Hurt is a notch or two above anyone else in that class, that we are in it with.

To me, Keion and TJD are must gets. Have to protect the state. After that, either one of the other two guys would work. I like Matthew Hurt too and I think IU has a chance at him

Where have you seen that Trendon and Keion don’t want to play with each other? Not saying it’s not true or doubting you, i just haven’t seen that. Of course, I am not as tuned in to recruiting as most

I’m not sure I believe it but it’s also just speculation. I want Keion, Trendon and TJD. That’s my ideal three man class. But if for some reason Keion and Trendon don’t want to play together, then I’d take Keion. Then round out the class with Hurt

The fact that they play near identical positions/roles has led some to speculate that they may not want to play on the same team.

We'll get TJD I'm confident.  Brooks I'm not sure about.  Our main competition is MSU and they could win the title this season or at least get to another FF.   It will be hard for him to tell Izzo no if MSU is coming off another B1G title and FF and we're in the NIT or worse.

Izzo pretty much owns Indiana when it comes to getting the guys he wants. They are the leader probably.

We do have a big ace up our sleeve in this recruitment and that is Ed Schilling.
