Apparently, Rob Johnson has an injury that is the cause of his recent lackluster play. Has there been any report or information shared to elaborate on this injury.? If not, is this extreme lack of transparency necessary? Wouldn't the fact that Rob Johnson is injured to a certain degree help pundits, the media and all fans better understand some of these less than inspired performances?

If he is injured and it is effecting his play negatively why is he playing? He should be sitting and resting not putting in subpar minutes at the risk of losing him for longer. Makes no sense to me

depending on what the injury is but rarely anything good comes from a injury that is effecting your play significantly imo

one of his legs or knees was wrapped up pretty good at minnesota. I suspect his lackluster play is that he can't get the quick first step so crucial to getting open shots and making plays

Might not be a significant injury that will get worse with playing, although those are rare.  He might be getting rest through the week and not practicing as much.  It could be just a nagging injury that effects his mental game and that's why his shot is off.  I suspect we see RoJo put together a strong game at the Hall soon and he gets back on track.

Funny how this "injury" only comes up after he plays poorly. Started hearing he was sick or injured after his horrible start to B1G play. Then nothing after his solid game vs OSU. Now, suddenly he is injured after his no-show at Minn.

Nah he's been talking about for a while. Even after good performances, including non-conference play.

correct. It has been mentioned he was injured / illness a while back. If his health issues aren't being discussed, i'm fine with that. If he wants privacy, he deserves to have it. But, his defense is definitely needed and if his shots aren't landing, his defense is more important. As we well know!

I'm kind of surprised that he had one of his worst games after a six-day game layoff in which he could have lightened up on practice. I was hoping the long week would have gotten him healthier. The fact that it did not (apparently, anyway) increases my concern.

Kid is probably so wrapped up in his draft stock and the fact that he's not showing up on draft boards. Draft Express has his whole head rented out for free right now. Just a guess. You gotta feel for him. I'm sure there is so much pressure coming from his loved ones to get to the league.

That's a shame. He should be loving his college days rather than feeling pressure. The way things are going he's going to be back at IU next year. Not a horrible fate for us to have him and JBJ both back, considering we expected this to be Troy's last year for sure and possibly Blackmon's as well.

 

If Troy and James DO come back, that could throw the whole recruiting program into a little disarray. We only have four scholarships (Yogi, NZ, Max, one currently unused) and so far four recruits and a transfer to take them. I would say one certain bench-warmer using a scholarship is expendable, but I don't want to start a riot.

I have nothing to back this up. the actions and words of his mother have led me to guess that maybe he's being pressured. Hope he figures it out. At this point, he legitimately needs another year in college.

Who is the transfer?  Newkirk is already one of the 12 scholarships this year.  Is there another coming in next year?

Wasn't aware Newkirk was being counted, but I guess I should have deduced it.

 

I'd just hate things to get so crowded Morgan or OG decide to go elsewhere. I think they both have very high ceilings.

 

Of course it's also possible Bryant is one-and-done as discussed in another thread.
