I think you might be onto something.  The NIL will hold them back ultimately, but they could forge a nice path in the way Painter has, but to what level?

Agree. The man can coach some hoops.

I’m still holding out hope for the DDV experience, but honestly, IU getting the 3rd best coach out of Drake currently in the B1G would be so on brand.

Four-star guard RJ Moore, a Top-60 overall prospect in the 2027 class, has committed to Rutgers. The 6-foot-7 wing is one of the top shotmakers in his class with elite positional size. Huge pickup for Steve Pikiell

Payton Jones, the No. 37 overall recruit in the national 2027 class, tells @247Sports he has committed to Maryland.

This one’s been out there for a minute but now official.

4-star Jeremiah Profit tells @Rivals he’s committed to Northwestern, becoming the highest-rated recruit in program history. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is a top-70 overall recruit in the 2027 class.  Chose Northwestern over Arizona State, Creighton, Boston College, Stanford, and Saint Mary’s.

That is a weirdly mediocre offer list for a player that the ratings services like a lot.

Micah Gordon is the #28 ranked player nationally according to 247's composite rankings and he just committed to Creighton over West Virginia and VCU. He is only 5'10 180 though. The portal seems to have impacted HS recruiting for basketball considerably more than football IMO.

Portal is significantly impacting HS bball recruiting, for me that’s another problem with the Portal world.

Don’t look now but Rutgers has the 4th rated recruiting class in 2027.  TIC.

Still impressive when you consider all things including what Pikiell is going through.

Seems Indiana will be very pointed in HS recruiting and that makes a lot of sense to me.
