Uspshoosier Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 @MikeMiller Tom Crean says it's a possibility that IU adds a new player in next few weeks. Nothing in the works, however. #iubb WayneFleekHoosier, ALASKA HOOSIER, colonel06 and 1 other 4 Quote

coonhounds Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 He talked about the possibility last week on coaches show. He might talk more about it tonight on the show. I got the feeling he was talking football but we can dream it is some total bad *** coming to backup max and Bryant lol Quote
incrediboy Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 We did that last year with minimal impact...just another body on the bench. ElectricBoogaloo 1 Quote

colonel06 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Does the football program have a guy 6'6" - 6'8" with some good high school experience that loves to play round ball in the off season? If he has a strong body and can block out and not afraid to mix it up ( no "Olay D), is in running shape it might be worth 5-7 min a game breather for starters. Let's face it, part of the genius defense of CTC was simply to wear ND down. I think that conditioning program is starting to take its toll on opponents already. I thought it would be late January when the body begins to feel those cumulative effects that we might see the superior conditioning at work. Point is if we have a hard nose football player with basketball skills and desire it should be considered IMO. Quote

MartintheMopMan Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I know we never took him off the roster, so maybe he isn't technically a "new" player, but Fuchs coming back could satisfy Crean's statement. He would be a new player in the games. Trouble with Latham is he is carrying too much weight without time to shed any. I'd love him to prove me wrong, but I can't see him playing at 300 lbs. Even Haas only carries 285 and he's part tree. Stuhoo, DawgBawls, ElectricBoogaloo and 1 other 4 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 In all likelihood, it is a IU football player, but why be so vague and cloak it in secrecy? It either is a football player or it's a mid-season transfer who would be immediately eligible. If it is Fuchs, it's not that big of a deal since Fuchs was on the team last year after football season and we know what his contribution will be. And honestly, if Fuchs already has a football scholly, why give him the open basketball scholly? Give it to Burton! WayneFleekHoosier and Bobman1 2 Quote

I think his name was Johnson. Quote
BtownBanner6 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Never mind I go it, Reggie Johnson had him listed at 290 but that boy was HUGE. IUsafety 1 Quote

HoosierReb01 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Makes much more sense! IIRC, and its been a while since I've seen a discussion on this so I may be very faulty, if a player has a athletic scholarship and is playing both basketball and football, his scholarship has to be a football one anyway. I could be very wrong on that, but I recall a discussion of that at one point. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
MartintheMopMan Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Never mind I go it, Reggie Johnson had him listed at 290 but that boy was HUGE. Oh man, Reggie Johnson! Guy was massive. I think he was even bigger in his first couple of years and actually lost weight to become 290. Still had a couple of inches on Latham but he could really ball. He was on that Sweet 16 team they had right? But, I feel like he was hurt or something in the tourney game they lost, I don't remember seeing him lumbering around at all. Fun player. I'd love to see Latham being a giant bruiser like that. BtownBanner6 1 Quote

Yeah he was on that team with Larkin, I think he was hurt in the tourney, but definitely a post man that could take up some space! I also would love a guy like that. Quote
