BburgHoosier Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Would you be satisfied if, for the next 3 to 4 years, IU football was able to maintain records in the 6 - 6 and 7 - 5 range. Coming from where we have been in the past 10 years, is it progress to get to a level where we are at or above 500 on a regular basis, without having a breakout year? Hurryin' Hoosiers Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Yes. It would be progress. Naturalhoosier 1 Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 NO! I didn't read your post, but as Indiana fans, the answer is always no. Naturalhoosier 1 Quote
johnsoniu Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Considering we've had all of about twelve or so .500 or better seasons in the last half century, I'd say stringing 4 or 5 in row would be marked progress. To that end, though, I would like to ensure that recruiting is strong, player development continues, and for goodness sakes something resembling a power 5 defense can be fielded. Going to a 9 game B1G schedule will require us to start winning conf games against the upper tier teams to get to 6-7 wins. I'm good with that. ThompsonHoosier Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Yes, especially since we only play 3 out-of-conference games starting next season. That would mean we win 3-4 conference games on a regular basis. johnsoniu and Naturalhoosier 2 Quote
Hovadipo Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 I was going to say yes, but then johnson reminded me of the upcoming 9 game B1G schedule, so ABSOLUTELY I would be satisfied. Naturalhoosier and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote

Definitely progress, and I will be satisfied as long as the administration views it as a step, and not a end. If CKW stays here, I do not think he is the type that will be satisfied with plateauing at middle of the pack. He has been part of successful programs and I think his end game is to keep building and improving right up to the top. johnsoniu 1 Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Wouldn't just getting to .500 this year be progress? johnsoniu and HoosierReb01 2 Quote
HoosierReb01 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Wouldn't just getting to .500 this year be progress? Yes, but I'm greedy and want to make it to .539. Walking Boot of Doom and johnsoniu 2 Quote
Sota Hoosier Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Yes. As others have mentioned, this would mean we would get over the hump and racking up some Big Ten wins against the conference elites. And of course consistent bowl appearances will help recruiting and fan buy-in. Nothing would be greater than watching IU home games with the whole stadium packed and rockin'. That is what winning and bowl appearances on a consistent basis would bring. HoosierReb01 and johnsoniu 2 Quote

Hoosier116 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Hopefully the university has learned from getting rid of Bill Mallory just how good that can be for a program to consistently be at or just over .500 for a few years. And vice versa what can happen when you get greedy and wreck a solid foundation that's been built. I hope Wilson is the guy to do it. And I will forever feel Hep was the guy to do it. RIP coach. JaybobHoosier Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Definitely. Consistently going to a bowl game is a huge improvement for IU, and would gain more notarity to the football program. You can tell it's getting better, just need to be consistent in getting to 6 wins. Go Hoosiers! Quote
Rookie33 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Given the division we play in within the B1G - absolutely. JaybobHoosier, HoosierAloha, johnsoniu and 1 other 4 Quote
