Yup, new age. I can only read about the past and learn about it from talking to people who actually got to grow up with it. I understand the craziness of the fanbase because I'm crazy about the Hoosiers, but the expectations of those who saw the 70's and 80's are crazy to me. Just can't relate to it because I didn't experience the events that set the bar so high.

 

Hopefully you will get to at some point.  Hell even in the 90s towns would be like ghost towns when IU and PU would play.  If a player were recruited by Knight it would be the same as Coach K coming to the gym to watch a game.  Everyone was in awe.  I don't think people's expectations are as much that as they are of hopeful desperation.  Its almost if they say its true, it becomes true.  We haven't been that team in years.  That is the reality.  But some act as if we flip a switch it will happen again.  We cannot win mulitple titles overnight.  We need to start by getting kids in here who bring an ability to consistently win.  That is my biggest issue with the current product.  There is very little continuity from class to class, or game to game.  I hope we turn it around.

Its not a new fan base. Its having a team finally worth celebrating after about 7 years of not even sniffing the post season. How many KC Royals fans did you see out and about before last season? I'm sure they've always been fans just not very proud to boast about losing.
