I continue to think that this all comes down to how IU does this year. Outside of that, UM and UCLA seem to be the stiffest competition. Duke or Arizona making a push could change that, but again, I think it's IU if the program straightens out by spring.

Indeed. Quality education, proximity to home, playing time and having individual and team success on the court are several criteria that I believe are important for many kids in their college decision. The order of importance will most likely vary for each student/athlete.

Yes. He has family from here and his dad grew up in Indy and went to UE. He's visited a few times already and was going to again a few months or so ago when he was in town for a tournament but had to change plans.

Brad Leaf was one of the best players they've had in their basketball history actually.

“Oh, heck yeah. Yeah, definitely. They’ll always be seen as one of the leaders. This is 40 years of roots, for me and my wife. That’s all T.J. has heard since he’s been able to watch basketball.”

@JordanLittman: Don't know if this is out there but 2016 forward T.J. Leaf will take unofficial visits to Arizona and Arizona State in early August.

He's doing his homework. Sadly there seems to be a west coast draw for him. I am not nearly as confident as I was a few months ago. UCLA and Alford might have the edge here.

Plus, he played for the Aces after the plane crash in the late 70's that nearly devastated the program, so you know he has emotional ties to the southern Indiana area.

My #1 hopeful for 2016. Many others I'm excited about too. Dukes involvement is scary to me. His friendship? with Kyle Guy coulda been an extra boost in our direction but based on recent reports it may be the exact opposite!

If he does commit to Duke, it isn't the end of IU recruiting.  It isn't worth a "sky is falling" thread.  We move on to the next one.

 

I guess I'm frustrated by the posts that say how terrible we are at recruiting after somebody commits elsewhere, after four straight top 10 recruiting classes.  If Leaf goes to Duke, we'll get somebody else comparable in the recruit rankings.  No reason to claim that Purdue will outrecruit us (blasphemy and I'll bet heavily against it).

 

That said, come to IU Leaf!  We're awesome.
