What does IU need for the upcoming season? Let's say 2 people transfer would you rather have a backup point guard or another dominant big man? Also give names you would like for the assitant job.

you're asking me to choose between a BACKUP pg & a DOMINANT center... I'll take one serving of dominant, every single time. If you gave me the option 10 times, I'd take it 10 times.

Haha cannot argue with that! Either one would not hurt. Kind of a log jam for our "big guys" minutes will be tough to come by I think. Although winning cures almost everything.

With Bryant, I think - unless we can get Maker - we've got the "big."   Other things need to get fixed, and I trust Perea as a senior, Holt, Davis, and Williams to hold down the paint with Bryant.   I still think this is a guard's game for the most part.  So...

1)  Perimeter defender

2)  Perimeter defender

3)  Backup point

4)  An IU guy on the bench as an assistant coach.  Fife or Michael Lewis would really make me happy.

But.....I'm not a fan of jettisoning good players on the roster to get another kid we need.  The right guys go (the ones who shouldn't be here anyway), it's fine.   No issues.   Would rather see a roster get built and the program start to solidify than anything else.    I really believe iU needs to rebuild and embrace the program's roots.  That I think, even more than winning for a single season, would heal the ills many people are feeling now.

I think Rojo will take care of 1/2 and 3. Just my bold prediction of next season.

Could be.  I think of him more as a "2," however you might be right.   Having someone as quick as Yogi is has spoiled us.  Having him as a senior point guard will be huge next season, and I think we'll really miss him when he's gone despite his warts of over-dribbling and questionable-at-times shot selection.

I would like to us land Thon first and foremost then Hyron Edwards as a backup point in training for when Yogi departs.

Don't know if u realize this but that would mean that there would HAVE to be 3 MORE to transfer/ somebody pay their way or whatever. For us to sign 2 more.

As for the assistant. Someone mentioned Dane Fife, love the idea. We sure could use him as I think it would help us defensively! We have got to get better there or it doesn't matter who we sign or bring back

THIS.

IU's defensive woes almost always started with perimeter defense, despite the lack of a big man. Coaches/scouts seem to always say defense is the toughest part about the transition from hsbb to collegiate basketball. Are there exceptions? Sure. Not much to suggest that who IU is still actively involved with in 2015 are elite defenders who can make a significant impact from day one.

Maker shows spurts defensively but has serious question marks if he plays college basketball. Inconsistency in general here, but let's just say I think he'd fit in with the current team from a defensive standpoint.

Mulder there is some to suggest that he can get it done, and the jump from JUCO to high D1 isn't as much as coming from hs, obviously. But Mulder comes with losing a current player either to transfer or the NBA.

Trey Lewis IU did contact but, again, think nothing comes to fruition there unless Yogi decides to leave for the NBA. Really unsure how he is defensively, but again, if Yogi leaves major problems anyways.

The guys from last year really need to take that next step on the defensive end. I'm pointing at JBJ, NZ, TW, and even Yogi with regards to consistency. OG may be the only one coming in who could have an impact with perimeter defense and I think that's where he has a chance to earn his minutes next year.

I would love to get a 4year point guard such as Hyron Edwards K.j. Walton or a Curtis jones. Im ok without thon would I like to have him? Of course but it won't kill us by all means. I like getting a backup point guard who could learn his role this year and that doesn't force rojo of playing out of position for years to come. That's some of the problem for a lot of the kids are out of position such as Troy at the 4 and hanner at the 5. Is anyone for keep April and developing him? If priller and April were going to stay why didn't we redshirt them? Seems we never redshirt.

Pap, you are in the know. What about the Williams Malik Bennett kid from Southport? Has he signed with anyone?

I am not sure if this is even possible, but would love to have a kid like that as a walk-on with the possibility of becoming a scholarship player his Junior or Senior year. Also couldn't hurt with Brunk and Scruggs.
