Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?

Recommended Posts

Return to your corners!!! The announcer hasn't even read the Tale of the Tape.

In the Blue Corner.........

Hailing from the MIDWEST, a 5 footer, with a sweet jumper, and basketball fundamentals for days, MDN!!!!!!

In the Red Corner........

Hailing from the NBA centric NAPTOWN, comes a leaper, with no semblance of basketball IQ, who is about to dunk in YO FACE, JOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's get it on!

LMAO!  Think I am bad wait until GC gets back on this one.

Midwest kids (I WILL SAY IT AGAIN), MIDWEST KIDS have been proven over time to come into college with the better fundamentals and typically are the main players on championship caliber teams.

Care to test that theory?

The last 5 champions....

2015 Duke, the Indiana kid was limited in the title game, Quinn Cook (Washington DC) and Tyus Jones (Minnesota) led the win

2014 Connecticut, Shabazz Napier (Massachusetts)

2013 Louisville, led by Peyton Siva (Washington) and Luke Hancock (Virginia)

2012 Kentucky, led by Anthony Davis (Chicago)

2011 Connecticut, Kemba Walker (New York)

Typically the main players on championship teams?  There seems to be no typical area that they're from.  Davis is midwest, the west are from all over.  Why only focus on the midwest?  Why limit our recruiting?

Love how you keep shifting your argument. So these guys are great pros too? At least take a position and stick with it. You aren't even listening. You are the only one talking about Indiana. Oh and two of the last five champs have players that are either an upcoming top pick or an all star. Both of those players? Midwest. You are making this too easy.

I have the same position.   Haven't you been reading?

I proved that the best players in the world aren't dominated by midwest kids.  Then you said you don't care about pros.  Then, yes, I "shifted" my argument to show that the most dominant players in college aren't dominated by midwest kids either.  I believe I have proof on both.  There's been no change of position.  You aren't even listening.  I prove all your biased arguments wrong.

Did you look at the list of the main players on championship teams?  Your "midwest" assertion that was proven wrong?  Any comment on that one?

Nope I can only read about as well as you pal. You have zero clue on this one. You feel the same towards me. Speaking of learning how to read at least after 10 posts you recognize your the only one who said recruiting Indiana. Good to see we made progress. Minimal as it is... Keep shifting though. It keeps an argument alive and well.

Lmao Yep because the MOP in that one game is the most important player on their respective teams. I am sure Duke makes it without Okafor huh? Wasn't your argument the best players aren't from midwest? 6 of 8 huh? Ok. Can't win around them huh? We shouldn't hit this area harder than other areas? We couldn't have fielded a contending team year in and year out by hitting on the top players in this area (surrounding states)? Can I have what you are having? Hell yes there are players I want outside of the Midwest but to act like we shouldn't go after this area harder than other areas is just plain dumb. They may not want to come here for various reasons but could we not hit on half of our prospects in this area?

Let's keep the personal stuff in PM'S or anywhere except threads. The ball IQ comment wasn't needed.

How have I shifted?  Why insist that I have zero clue?  Why do some people attack instead of read and respond?  Jeez....and gocolts hasn't even joined in yet to bash and attack....this is only going to get ugly for some reason.  I hate that.

I'm out.

i understand that but it wasn't personal. It was intended to be the whole College Vs. NBA in a nutshell personified.

I clearly don't know either of these guys enough to talk basketball IQ.

I understand your general point though.

For IU to contend we need a recruiting base in the Midwest and to be able to reel in a highly touted recruit or fill a need from a secondary hotbed. That doesn't mean you don't recruit the south or the west it means you put your focus on the Midwest and maybe the east coast.

Look through the rankings and the history of college basketball and you can see the Midwest produces more COLLEGE talent than other areas.

How about we finish this argument by recruiting BOTH MIDWEST and EAST COAST KIDS!

A win-win also known as the Best of BOTH worlds!

Besides---I sure would not have wanted to miss out on Oladipo!  He may not be from the Midwest but he's a great ambassador for IU Basketball!
