How many more wins does a healthy Devin Davis get?

Recommended Posts

Was thinking about this during the game today and Davis was a huge player we missed for this one. With all of our issues and his knack of always getting the ball, how much would a healthy Davis affect the season?

I still think we would have lost quite a few games, but I think we easily would have won a couple more. Between Hanner's injuries and Davis'. We lost our starting front court.

Not to be a snarky bastahd, but this is an "If your aunt had cojones, would she be your uncle?" type question.

Every team has injuries during a season. If we had lost Yogi or Troy, our two most important players, then 20-14 would suffice. Instead we lost Devin, who most were projecting to be a serviceable, but undersized big. Maybe our sixth or seventh man.

Would that have put us from 20-14 to 22-12? Maybe. That's still unranked. Still an eight seed in the tourney. Still "just ok".

I think that Davis would've had Holt's minutes and Holt would've been playing a couple minutes here and there for foul trouble/injuries.

I'm not sure the numbers would've been significantly higher to merit a different W/L.

I think his importance is greater than his skill level just because of the make up of this team and lack of size.

But let's not forget that before his car incident, Devin's actions appear to show that he was quite immature, and that he had some running buddies on the team that also had a lot of growing up to do.

In a sense, Devin's injury may have been the wake up call that saved this team, not the player injury that harmed it.

That's very true. Felt like that all season long. Didn't think about that when asking this question.

I think more important than his offensive #'s, and effect on the win total would have been his influence on the attitude of his teammates, as a freshman he quickly became one of my favorite players because of his hustle and no fear play. He seemed to have "edge" to him and this team could've used some of that. COULD have changed the whole demeanor of the team.

I see 0-1 wins difference. Davis doesn't fix the major flaws of this team. He doesn't add size (legit center) and he doesn't fix the horrendous defense. Maybe a few rebounds help win a game but that's all.

One 6'6'' center replaces another in Holt since they would never be on the floor at the same time.Collin probably wouldn't have played as much.

It would have helped with depth but not much otherwise.

As someone noted, his on court attitude may have helped but his off court attitude was probably also part of the problem. People seem to forget that he was the one intoxicated that ran out into oncoming traffic...

I hope he has also learned his lesson and he helps us out next year. He seems to be progressing well
