OT: Indiana to finally join the Big10

Recommended Posts

IU is the only AAU school to currently not have an engineering program. This is a great move by the university to address the school's most pressing need. It's going to start as a bachelors and doctorate program, with a masters to follow.

What was the reason for why this never happened? Wasn't there some outdated funding allotment law or whatever based on school type, plus pressure to keep things the way they have been in the Indiana state legislature?

Great news. A definite need for engineering programs. May help a little with recruiting too.

I recall several football recruits the last few years who were looking to major in Engineering. They might have really liked IU, but they went elsewhere.

He isn't an engineering major

I don't know what his major is but he said this in an interview after he signed his letter of intent with Purdon't.

“Purdue is such a great school,’’ Haas said by telephone this morning. “They’re one of the top five engineering schools in the country. They have biomedical engineering, which is what I was looking for."
