Hoosiers High Life

Not say crean is bad coach just questioning some of his choice

I would agree but i think the momentum has shifted to the down side and if a couple keys decide to leave it could crash.

Would have to agree, with the caveat, that if everybody stays, a couple of tourney wins, and land a big,and the worm turns.

In how long?

What Big is on the Radar for 2015?  None that I am am aware of  .  So now you are looking two years down the pike, and there are not that many Big guys that make an impact their freshman year.  So now we are out three years.

Out of all the beefs with Coach Crean being able to build a team is IMO the biggest one.

Yeah, he needs to show he can build a team to compete year in and year out. Not for a year or two then fall off a cliff.

Crean wasted his chance to have a very good year BY not having a plan in place to replace NV! Cost us the season right there. Epic recruiting failure.

I would say that Fisher was his plan to replace NV. ... I would say it was Crean's failure to get Fisher to stay was his wasted chance.

When you make a horrible decision that keeps you from making the right decision because of $ that keeps you from making that decision; you need to go. It's not like he's actually coaching the team, but the buyout keeps him from firing Crean. He's riding the dead horse since he has no other option unless he wants to look worse than he already has. Dead man walking either way. Plus, his position is a dime a dozen. His legacy will always be the Crean extension no matter what he does moving forward. Also, what top basketball coach would want to work for him knowing his tight relationship with Crean? Look at Michigan; the AD goes and they get their man. Our situation is very similar.

. The money isn't as big an issue as people think it is. If the pressure to remove Crean is strong enough, then the money will be there. I think he's here for one more season regardless. We would need to lose 4 straight games from now until the season is over for Crean to be gone.

Even though most of the guys we went after in the spring couldnt replace NV talent wise the fact that we struck out on every single one speaks volumes to me.

thats the part I fail to understand. It was such an easy sell. Who wants to be the third straight lotto pick? Sign up here.................. That easy! Don't give me "it's our style" as an excuse. That isn't it. It's all about getting to the NBA and coach Cal is proving it with his ridiculous platoon system. I mean, who honestly wants to play in a platoon? Come on, Man!

I hate to sound like a Crean critic, but the angle of being the third straight lotto pick doesn't really pass the smell test for me. NV and CZ were EXCEPTIONAL talents. I agree we should be able to pull one top big man, but when you're targeting kids who won't be 1s and done, you can't really tell me Crean has a great track record of developing bigs and making them into NBA players. Those 4 star/high level 3 star guys and certain 5 stars are looking to play for coaches who will develop them.

CZ and NV put themselves into the league. A big, like Hanner, who needed development, is struggling in his 3rd year

my point is moreso, many other 5 stars go to Baylor/Oklahoma St./Seton Hall/etc/etc and never sniff the NBA. Some go to Kansas/Duke/UK and don't sniff the NBA, although UK has a great track record. Anyway, Crean should/could hone in on those super talent 5 stars and tell them they are the next Vonleh or Cody. Batting 2 for 2 on 5 star bigs. Who's next??

The money wasn't an issue since the deal was struck or the deal wouldn't have been struck in the first place.

Iowa is playing well and I don't see us beating Mich St. I'm not sure where that would put us in the Big tournament, and a first round loss there shouldn't happen but Crean is our coach. I love his quotes after losing to NW. We don't press more cause we don't want to give up easy layups? Senior night will be one to remember also. No senior players probably for the first time in the history of our program, but Crean plans to honor the team managers. You have got to be kidding me. Just as I suspected only I thought he would recognize the cheerleaders also. The only thing better was how he reacted to the question of NW 2-3 zone bothering us. His response...it's a 2-3 zone...what do you think? Classic Crean.

You can't really disagree with him on the press. Imagine how bad our defense would be if we pressed?
