ThompsonHoosier Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 People seem to forget that Sudfeld had only played through the first half of the season and the offense showed flashes of what it could be. If he would have stayed healthy, our young and inexperienced offense would have improved to the point where we could be at 6 wins by this point in the season. We were only down 10 points when he went down at Iowa and if we would have had Nate, we could have won against an awful Michigan team and a below average Penn St. Wilson will get another season to get us to a bowl game. The defense is improving under Knor, the offense will improve with more experienced receivers. At least Wilson has all of his players showing some pride for this program and at least we are not hearing about arrests and failed drug tests from the football players (even though we all know they're out partying too.) Being down by 10 at half to Iowa isn't an accomplishment. Their best win was at Pitt, who is 4-5. Also, I don't see how anyone can say the offense was going to round into shape, Nate had two good games all year, and other than that at best he was average throwing the ball, and had some truly awful games (Maryland) and another bad game (Indiana State, they are really bad and he looked incredibly average) Quote

I was questioning our ability to go bowling before he got injured. I don't put all of that on Nate though, It seemed to me that our receivers were not doing a great job of getting open. Just based on the number of times Nate had to pull the ball down and scramble. HoosierReb01 1 Quote
MartintheMopMan Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 At least we've got a really great QB coming in next season to play under Sudfeld so we won't be in this position when Nate Sudfeld is gone in a year. Whhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaat? Well, I am just shocked. mamasa 1 Quote
iubirdman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted this in another thread, but at what point do we ask if the recruits and players actually think Wilson is a good coach for QB's? We have had Caufman and Tre transfer and our 3 highest rated QB recruits never make it to campus. I know any of the 3 that could have been here are better than any option we currently have and would argue that at least 2 if not all 3 would have been better or at least equal to what we started the year with. I just have to question how a coach who supposedly is an offensive genius, can not land a quality QB and the ones that he has decide to bail on him Quote

iubirdman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Oops, typo, should have been 2 highest rated recruits, my bad Quote
iubirdman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Since CKW arrived here what QB's that initially committed to him have arrived on campus, and which commits/players have actually transfered/never arrived? As far as I can remember the list to commit and arrive to CKW include Caufman, Sudfeld, Diamont, Cameron, and possibly Covington although not sure he was brought in to play QB. The list that has left/never arrived would include 2 Kiel's, Wright Baker, Roberson, Caufman, and now Stevens. Not a great track record in my opinion. We keep saying the offense will be OK with CKW, but really not sure I bye that long term, I mean looking at the QB list the best ones are leaving and not really being replaced with the same or similiar quality Quote

Still stares down his first option and if it isn't there he rarely goes to any of the other guys. Still struggled with reading zones. I argue his accuracy wasn't all that great this year, and think guys like Latimer made it look better than it was. Quote

KingPG21 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Yeah, I liked the Sudfeld signing but I've been disappointed in his development. Same here. It isn't like he is bad, there are plenty of schools that would probably welcome him, as he is solid with his ups and downs along the way. Just felt like with his where he was to start his sophomore year that we should have been seeing more this season, and just didn't. Quote

Nate has a lot of natural talent, but there isn't anything special about him. He is very methodical in how he plays QB. Quote
Magnanimous Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 When Wilson first got to campus a friend and I saw him walking near AH. We walked up and said "welcome to IU coach." He sort of looked at us for a few seconds and said "you weren't the little ****$ keeping me up all night were you?" We were really confused and said that we had just gotten back from Indy. He just kind of kept walking. It was incredibly strange. Probably as strange as the fact we put a million dollar football hire in McNutt instead of a hotel. Quote

shortspacequickness Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 What amazes me about Sudfeld is his weight... how, as a junior, is he that skinny? He's got a decent frame... Quote

Our defense still sucks, but to Wilson's credit, he has control over his players and staff enough to get bad publicity buried before anyone can raise a ruckus. Wilson will not get us to a bowl game, and will never break .500 in big ten play. Stoops may be available for the Wilson job after this season though. Quote
