X-Hoosier Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Plus you do realize the B1G conference goes back further than Crean's tenure right? Especially when we are discussing how the strength of the conference usually pulls the SOS up. Yes. Kenpom only goes back to 2002 for one. Do you want those? Cause I don't see you stating any facts to support yourself. Just getting mad at facts going against you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Uspshoosier Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Lmao ok... 2012, 2011, 2010? The previous years were dependent on doing something in the pre season tournaments, much like this last year. You know like when we should have played Kansas instead of UNLV which would have helped our SOS immensely. But hey I am sure you already knew all of that. Playing St. John's instead of vandy didn't help the sos either. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierAloha and mdn82 2 Quote

Plus playing any team not named Kentucky in the SEC should be like your 4th or 5th best non conference game. HoosierAloha 1 Quote

I was just pointing out iu had an opportunity to have a better sos then they ended up. Take away Unlv and St. John's rpi numbers and add Kansas and vandy's and it would look more respectable. I think our problems in scheduling is with the weakest teams we schedule not the top. It wouldn't be bad to get a Louisville or Xavier in that Kentucky spot. But to schedule UNC, Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky at neutral spots are asinine. Even if you go 2-2 what do you gain? A "battle tested" squad? With how hard Crean practices out of the gate we would have little confidence by December and a wore down team. Quote
Uspshoosier Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Top 30 schedule in what world? It has been a few years. The Big Ten has been very down the last 3 seasons and it has shown in our SOS. Last year Kenpom had us at 64. Year before at 65. Year before that at 58. 2013 we had a Top 30.. we were at 17. 2012 at 16. 2011 at 27. 2010 at 61. 2009 at 3. So only 4 times under Crean. This year is looking like another year outside the Top 50. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BtownBanners mobile app I would use the sos that the committee would use instead of kenpom. This year was 100, last year was 23 and year Before that was 56. 2013-11, 2012-35, While you might think the big 10 is hurting sos the numbers don't really show that being the case. Take wisky for example. If the big 10 was down as you say it was then they wouldn't of made the tournament this year. Wisky had 5 top 50 wins last year, 4 of those wins came against big 10 teams. You might not like rpi or there sos but until the committee changes it we are stuck with it. Kenpom numbers are fun to look at but at the end of the day they don't hold any weight ( unless you are whicita st). The big 10 ended up with 6 teams in the rpi top 50 (11, 14, 15, 24, 28, 41) or for kenpom lovers (5, 14, 15, 23, 25, 33). A down year in the big 10 is still better then most conferences Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mdn82, HoosierAloha and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote

It looked good on paper and I'm betting iu ended up with a top 5 sos. But he couldn't put a great team on the court. All of the elite schools should be encouraged to schedule tough. Look how much it has helped Kansas with seeding. They lost 10 games with Wiggins and got a 2 seed. Indiana shouldn't be the only one trying it. Indiana, Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Kansas, Michigan State, Ohio state, Arizona, UCLA, Louisville, UConn, Villanova.. I'm not saying schedule all of them. We should schedule 3 or 4 of those teams along with maybe 1 or 2 really good mid majors. The scheduling of 300+ RPI teams really needs to stop. There is nothing wrong with a super tough schedule. You may lose a couple more games but it won't be looked down upon. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Iu -McNeese st and Kansas -northern Colorado. But I agree less +200 teams and more between 100-150 range. Michigan st going on the road to play northeastern might not seem like a lot but at the end of the year it was a win on the road against a rpi 108 team, which in the committee's eyes held more weight then a win at northwestern (111) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierAloha, mdn82 and LIHoosier 3 Quote
