So deflating for teams.   Oklahoma played one heck of a game

Teams gotta understand that it's 5 on 8 when you go to Kansas. There really isn't a more blatantly obvious bias in the nation. Not at Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Michigan State, Purdue... No where. You'd think you were watching a HS game with the way things are called in Lawrence.

Well when you can just throw dudes outta your way, it makes things easier. Wish Indiana had the refs in their back pockets like that.

They did in the 90’s.    When you are the top of the shelf team in college basketball this happens.   Hall of calls is long gone now though

I still don't think I've seen anything as bad as Kansas' hold on Big 12 officiating. Even on the road. They took the lead tonight on a blatant offensive foul.

@Uspshoosier

How the hell can they be 62 in NET with zero quad 1 wins and quad 4 losses?

KenPom has them at 44

My guess is smashing bad teams early on and most all but 1 of their losses away from home to mostly top 33 teams.   A 16 point drop in the NET is a big drop.    They have a ton of work to do.  They will have their opportunities.   They better hope Michigan makes a run so that win looks better

Before your time but that was pretty much what it was like being an IU fan back 80’s early 90’s.   For me personally late 80’s to mid 90’s was peak for me.   Too young to remember early 80’s but IU was mostly never out of a game on the road or definitely at home.    That phantom foul they called on IU at northwestern where no one touched him on a missed layup would have never happened.     If there were message boards back then opposing fans would be complaining like they are now at Kansas.     IU had a ridiculous home winning streak back then and now can’t remember the number.    I remember IU being on the road against Penn st or northwestern and they were inbounding the ball with a 1 point lead.    Refs called a moving screen foul on the inbounds and IU stole one.  Lol.    Never should have gotten that call on the road but they did.    A lot less angst being an IU fan back then compared to now.

Opposing fans still complain about Assembly Hall... But we get zero calls there.

The one I always remember is at Penn State when IU was #1 and PSU had a lead with less than a minute to go. A PSU player stole the ball and had a chance for a breakaway layup and an IU player made a wild grab at him only managing to grab his jersey and untuck it from his shorts. The refs called a tech on PSU for the player having his jersey untucked, IU made the free throws, got the ball back to tie the game, and won in overtime.

That is WILD. No wonder so many older non-IU fans hate IU.

Was that early '90s? Like '92 or '93? I remember when IU was really good at that time and PSU was pretty new to the league they had a tough game there that went to OT.  IIRC, that was also the timeframe that the NCAA was cracking down on untucked jerseys.

Listen to Painter on Rothstein and you will understand why Purdue has been so much more successful than IU in his tenure.  A great listen. Talking matchups and gameplan vs Penn State. Etc. Good stuff.

I’ve listened to Woody here and there. I’m convinced he knows what it takes to win and I’m convinced he knows good basketball when he sees it. I’m not convinced he can create it.

Yes, it was sometime in that timeframe. I think it was one of the first few games that IU played at PSU.

I thought so. I vaguely remember that game but certainly not the T for the jersey being untucked. That's hilarious.

I mostly remember how crazy their old arena was. Small but the crowd looked like they were super close to the court, like they were almost on the court. That and a really good IU team struggling against a very bad PSU team.

I finally found the game , it was in '93 and I was mistaken, they called PSU for a push off with an IU player grabbing and holding the PSU player's jersey. Now that my memory has been jogged, I remember talk that it was going to be a tech for the untucked shirt then the broadcast went to commercial and when they came back from the break it was a common foul. The game went to 2 overtimes. Yes, it was the time the NCAA was emphasizing tucked in jerseys.

Haven't seen anything official yet, but if it is true, it would not be limited to only basketball but all sports across the board.

The @NCAA Division I Council has approved a measure to turn all volunteer positions in baseball and softball (and in all sports) into a full-time coaching position without recruiting constraints. Volunteers will officially become full-time coaches on July 1, 2023.

What are volunteer positions? Student managers and such?

If so, would this rule change limit how much they're able to work with the players since the coaching staff has a limit?
