We were 7-0 going into Rutgers and up 3 why wouldn't you think we would hold on to the lead. We had already beaten a good Xavier team on the road. Some people look at the positive where others look at the negative

Recent (the last several years of data) history? We got Xavier at the right time, players coming back from injuries and jelling. Obviously didn't know that at the time but Miller addressed some of their issues and they've improved recently. We have more basketball talent but only one or two dudes who could play for Rutger from an attitude standpoint.

Some people look at the positive where others look at the negative.

Others hope for the best (positive), prepare for the worst (negative), and acknowledge the reality.

It doesn't mean that at all. Our games against Kansas and Arizona have no bearing on how we'll do in the B1G.

No one, and I mean NONE of the 14 B1G teams have shown where they will finish in the B1G.

St. Johns would have the 20th largest basketball gym in Indiana. Holds 5,620.

Would also hold 1,020 more than Paoli, where I went.... A very poor 2A school.

I wonder what the difference in total cost for a gym in Queens vs. BFE Indiana, add to that competing interests in NY and the surrounding area vs. BFE Indiana.

I also was going by the end of last year where we came back against UM and held on to beat UI in the BTT

Mostly agree, but with some caveats.

I would put Xavier in the "upper level teams" category (now 12-3 and a hell of a W against UCONN), that was a strong road W, and saying IU hasn't shown it can compete with the upper level teams on the road glosses over that we were without JHS against AZ (and did still make a run at it in the second) and for that matter @Rutgers. Both JHS and X, imo, are critical to our ability to win against good teams and especially on the road. Losing X for at least most of the season is a real obstacle to our getting to where we expect(ed), Gallo is not a point but is really going to have to step up.

Definitely the Xavier win is a top 5 win in all of college basketball so far this season.   That was a massive win.   No way to deny that win.   I guess I should have said consistently compete with upper tier teams away from home.    In years past IU has shown they can randomly pick up top 5 team wins (Iowa and Sparty) but it’s a different level to be in those games consistently with a chance to win.    I hear you with injuries and would have loved to see how that Zona game could have turned out with JHS but injuries are apart of it and teams have to overcome them.   IU is still in a great spot and has plenty of opportunities to prove that this year is different from years past when it comes to road games.

Two solid games to choose. Did the amazing ~.500 ball to end on a high note last season and an absolute embarrassment at the hands of St. Mary's enter your mind or were those games too negative to factor in?

Curious about your top 5 wins this year. Care to share the top 5 or top 5 + those in consideration?

Rutgers @ Purdue

Bama @ Houston

Houston @ Virginia

IU @ Xavier

those would be my top 4 best wins since they are true road wins

Purdue over Zags, Duke

Zona over IU

Some others that are great wins but ones I have behind the 4

It is the whiny power conference coaches who don't want to lose their jobs for missing the tournament.

Agree there are whiny power conference coaches. Don't want to lose their jobs for missing the tournament, huh? I don't think making a 90 team tourney is going to significantly change decisions to fire coaches by universities. It's going to be an expanded First Four feel to get into the first round of the NCAA tourney. If programs are fooled into maintaining a coach because they were the 90th team when they should be much better I guess that's on them but hopefully IU doesn't adopt this philosophy.

Tennessee is beating the brakes off of Miss. State. Appears that this game was moved to ESPNU so the mothership could keep us updated on…nothing with Damar Hamlin. Let a situation breathe, maybe? Idk.
