Colleges screw it up for both sides. The accused can be thrown out of school without due process. The accuser can have their accusation dismissed because the accused is someone important. Just let the police handed it. They're the ones trained to deal with these situations.

They can’t just let the police handle it for a few reasons. Title IX is the obvious one. Stuhoo can probably chime in on the legal specifics. But the other reason is the police need a higher evidence threshold. They should have a higher one because the end result might be putting someone in jail. Universities have a lower evidence threshold because the worst they can do is expel a student.

The vast majority of sexual assault/rape cases end up not being prosecuted because it’s a he said / she said situation. Schools should not be held to the same legal standard in order to keep their campuses safe. You can be expelled from school for a lot less than sexual assault, after all.

Getting expelled from school is a pretty serious thing too. Schools should absolutely be held to a high standard on that.

And they are held to a high standard. Just not as high as criminal prosecution.

Not high enough. Due process is important, especially when it comes to a life-altering event like getting expelled from school. Campus kangaroo courts are an absolute joke, but that's a discussion for another day.

Here’s a perfect example if why you’re wrong- at an event today (let’s just say District 1) and student from another district (say District 2) started harassing my daughter’s 15 year old friend (he’s 16), saying things that would make Pitino blush, saying he was going to do lots of things. She was very upset, her mom called the police, as well as District 1 principal (who was here). Police called juvenile services. Even though the friend had it recorded on her phone, and literally a dozen witnesses, police/juvenile services did nothing, citing lack of tangible admissible proof. District 1 principal immediately called District 2 superintendent. Sexually abusive kid was immediately banned from all events here, and after superintendent heard everything, student is suspended pending expulsion. Would you rather have this potential rapist unpunished?

I'm not interested in getting into a political discussion on here.. You and I obviously have very different opinions on this issue and neither of us is going to change the other's opinion, so it's probably best to just not get into it.

I don’t know where you get this idea that Title IX investigations don’t have due process. Schools get in trouble if they don’t give the accused due process (and rightly so).

It's just comical seeing certain fanbases wanting a coach fired after he loses a certain game and then given a lifetime extension the next.

I swear someone tripped Allen as a small child and he cannot let it go.  Talk about it man! Quit holding the anger in and taking it out on other bball players. Kids got problems.  Smh.

Or just has always had that competitive nature that rubs people the wrong way from time to time. Now I don't necessarily have a Psych degree but whatever is could be explained in many ways.
