CTC Presser on WTHR @ 12:30 ET

Recommended Posts

deservedly so? Who else to blame? The players? Who recruited the players? Who disciplines the players? Who disrespects media members?

I have wanted him to succeed and IU to succeed. Now I don't care how he does, I just want IU to succeed.

I will however be fair to the man because he has a lot of good attributes. I can't thank him enough for The Zeller, Wat, Vic years but sound coaches and programs don't have these hiccups without expecting change.

To be fair Wayne, there aren't any Bob Hammel's walking through that door so I'm just not sure what media member deserves respect these days.

Crean said "It is what it is" at least twice during the presser. Still no accountability. No wonder his team reflects that.

You obviously didn't watch live. He didn't just say "it is what it is" to answer an entire question.

I don't believe that feigns responsibility, it just says, the circumstances aren't different than they are, it's forward from here

All people deserve respect until they lose the right for it. And if his assessment is all media is scum and don't deserve his time he is wrong.

Put it this way, I like how Tim Miles handles himself with media, not Bob Knight, Tom Crean, or Bill Bellicheck.

Reading through some of the Twitter feeds, seems to be a consensus that this was a much better press conference than the other day.  The only "media" person that seems displeased still is Dakich.  Parrish even commented how Crean went directly to Doyel after and shook hands.  At least it sounds like a step in the right direction.  I haven't listened to it yet though, just going off of these feeds.

we generally have 2 but with the Canada trip I think it was at 1 for a while. 2nd one added much later.

I see. Still, the way he made it sound is that he added an extra game to their suspensions to make it 4. But who knows what actually happened.

You like when Tim Miles tweets at halftime? If Crean did that you'd have an absolute breakdown.

Sometimes one question, can be the determiner.  I prefer for coaches to answer in depth, because that's what I want to hear, but if a media member writes things that were off the record, makes up things or asks silly questions, as a coach I'd quit talking to that person as well.

Who disrespects the media? WHo cares? I don't remember Knight ever respecting the media. Come on, keep nitpicking

Did any players talk?  And if so what did they have to say?

Once Coach got finished and there was nothing left to dissect or the opportunity to gripe about his arrangement of words, apparently everyone lost interest.

Yes, Kepner, I didn't like how Bob Knight handled the media either.  I was a student when Knight was forced out.  I was young and honestly thought it was time for him to go.  He was getting more and more crotchety as time was passing.  I respect Knight as a basketball mind and a leader of men but he had lost his way over time.

I am not "nit picking".  I am not a Crean lover, or a Knight lover, or a lover of any coach.  I love IUBB!  Coaches have their strengths and weaknesses.  I recognize that but I also recognize when a program has gone over the tipping point.

The half game crap makes no sense. If they only count as half then they'd miss the next 3 games after. So technically it's 5 games. Unless I'm just completely confused.

I guess bc they are exhibition games they aren't seen as important enough to treat as a full game. Therefore those two games add up to 1 leaving 2 games left to sit which are the first 2 regular season games.

That's my point. Cream said it was a 4 game suspension so they'd have to sit the next 3 not the next 2 like some are saying.

I'm seeing it as Crean counts the exhibitions as full games, so it would be 4. Troy's mom said the exhibitions are half games, so it's 3 total. Either way they aren't coming back until SMU lol. 6 one way, half dozen the other.
