Perea not with Team due to VISA issues
Agree. My Grandfather had a saying that has stuck with our entire family over the years. Simply "don't panic, adjust". I think of it everyday in my life, and feel it applies here. Like you said, it's unfortunate, but not the end of the world, and it's most likely something the staff could do nothing about.
Really like that saying

No ones panicking we are simply expecting people to do their damn job. Crazy expectation right? I too would like to see what some of you do outside of the forum. My god, the happy go lucky let's not blame the people in charge crap is mind numbing.

The outrage I expressed over this was basically of the faux variety. I've been an IU basketball fan for 50+ years and have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. This snafu was indeed unfortunate but just a minor blip on the radar. I hope it can be resolved or at least avoided in the future.

BTW, I deal with adversities in life quite well. Been through a lot of serious ones and am still standing.

I second Dalton's comments. I make 6 to 7 times a normal income, have a wife and 3 kids. No divorces, no one unhappy in my life. I love IU basketball and am passionate about it, but ultimately it's just a hobby. It doesn't affect me 1 bit in my "normal" life and my decision making abilities are doing quite well.

Visa's are tricky. If you have travelled abroad enough you probably had some similar situations. We went a few years back and had to also have an FBI clearance. By the time the Visa cleared our FBI clearance expired.

It would be nice though to be able to work with the Canadian Government on this so that neither the guest nor the host country are left looking bad. Not casting blame but I would hope the Canadian school/organization that helps coordinate could have some pull with these kind of things.

That being said, love CCG and what you bring to the forum. Contributors like that I cannot extend enough Grace to in repayment. Never ban the General.

But you're ticked off about this, yet we have no clue what actually happened. We have no clue if this was a Canadian government thing completely out of the staff's hands. There's a good chance everyone on IU's side did do their job.

Thanks! Our entire family pretty much lives by it now. My Grandfather was a really high ranking FBI Agent, and my grandmother was a secretary for J. Edgar Hoover, so they really had to live by those words.

I went on a very similar trip entering my senior year of college. We did 5 days in Toronto and 5 days in Montreal. We had to have everything (papers, etc.) to our coaches ahead of time. We had a kid on our team from Serbia, and it was down to the wire on whether he was going to be able to go. He ultimately did come, but I can tell you there was nothing more our coaches could have done, it was really out of their hands.

Whoa...where is this coming from?  ccgeneral is the most respected poster on this site imo, most informative.  There should never be talk of this.

Disagreeing is ok.  ccgeneral is the man.

It's more than a unfortunate incident. Tom Crean is behind this all the way. He should be fired and drug out of Bloomington immediately upon returning from Canada. At which time middle school Bob should be named interim head coach. Or CCG. In reality though really don't think it matters I believe it's going to be a great season and we're going to surprise a lot of good teams. GO HOOSIERS

Those words still hold true at the FBI.

Crean's post game interview on ITH is really good.related, Crean says that Hanner's Visa issues were brought to their attention last week. In further talk about the issue, he seemed really confident that HMP would be joining the Hoosiers for the rest of the games IMO. if not the game on Sunday, I would assume that HMP will be back for the big one against Carleton on Monday. Just shows the complete ineptness of Crean and his staff as well as Director of Basketball Operations if we have one. If we don't; hello. Creans only known about this trip for a year. Just not enough time to correctly plan. Then you add up the one position of major weakness with the one player who needs the most improvement and you get a complete cluster f__k. Keep making excuses for this amateur in 3.2 million ways. Visa issues should have been handled a long time ago. And if they couldn't have been, a real coach would have kept the whole team home too. It is a team sport right?

No Creans not behind this and that's the problem. He will blame it on a visa issue just like he blames all his losses on his players. Maybe you should blame it on Dean Naismith lol. The buck never stops with Crean under any circumstance and this as with many is where he falls way short. Mostly inside the court though as 17-15 should be hard to replicate, correct?

Right on we should be burning basketballs here in the great state of Indiana tonight. This season has been lost before it even started. They should forfeit all games going forward how will they ever compete again under the direction of this moron of a basketball coach. They should've sent the women's team instead. Tom Crean knows nothing of basketball. Disband the team now to save face of Indiana Universtity all is lost.
