NBA Draft: Noah Vonleh

Recommended Posts

Once a Hoosier always a Hoosier, is my motto. I wish him the best. After it is all said and done Coach Crean produced another lottery pick. (Whether he produced it or not is a debate that will never end) I wish nothing but the best for the kid.

Crazy... I thought he was pretty damn effective when we actually got him the ball.

Effective against weak defenders, yes. Did you never notice that he had to gather himself everytime he caught a pass in traffic? The only thing he posesses is a great physical advantage. That's why his big games came against bad teams. When he gets to the NBA, he will be shut down easily.

True that indymike...  But the reason he might be drafted so high is that he has awesome potential still.  He had just turned 18 months before he hit the court in assembly hall.  NV has the size and body to compete in the NBA, and his bball IQ is really high for just being 18. So much room for NBA coaches and staff to turn his game into something special.   I'd like to see Noah in 3 or 4 years from now and see if he can be a powerhouse.

Double double second MSU game, double doubles against Minnesota and Michigan in back to back games. 18 and 6 the second Wisconsin game. 17 and 6 against Syracuse. A good number of his big games came against good teams

I will follow. If he (perhaps eventually) speaks well of IU all the better. If he plays a a high level I hope he can reconcile his thoughts towards IU because it would be nice having a guy like that promote IU. Gordon does so and he was here but a year.

EJ is a true hoosier, that's for sure, he tweeted about the boys MANY times this past season.

I still remember the day when he announced he was coming to IU instead of UI.

the UI message board was something special that day lol

I would like to give an opinion here of Noah. He is a good kid, good intentions, high expectations, and even a bit naive. There is a state of disorganization from the top down with this team. With that in mind, it is difficult to come into a big program and figure it out, with little to no team leadership, and a lack of understanding of what is expected. He is 18, and probably feels like he is helping his friends/recruits by being truthful of his experience. "Bashing" to you may mean he is not saying good things.. To him, it is his
truth. IU basketball has changed, it is not what it used to be even though that is what "they sell" in the pregame tape.

I believe this. That is why I am even more saddened. I think this next batch of recruits, though unheralded (some of them), better represent IU basketball. I want kids that eat, drink, sleep, and crap basketball.

I wish I better knew WHAT turned Vonleh against Crean. Besides not winning, Crean seemed to praise Vonleh all season. Crean treated him like a STAR.

One of my hypotheses is that Vonleh wanted more versatility in his game and Crean restricted him. Not sure what all caused the riff.

I mean Zeller was as versatile a big on break as you'll see, Vonleh was able to get outside and work his game. Crean in no way restricted his versatility and never made him sit down low with no ability to score in other ways. If Noah didn't enjoy his time in Bloomington that's fine but I just can't understand how he felt Crean at all failed him or didn't allow him to display his abilities. When he decided to leave he told Gary Parrish it sucks he didn't go to the tourney. He can blame Crean for that but as the most talented player he needs to learn to hold himself accountable. Bad mouthing the program does him and no one else any good because he was a major part of the program this year. This is the same kid who in a must win game for tourney pulled himself out during walk through. I wish Noah the best but I think he has a lot of growing up to do personally and professionally now that he is a pro Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I should also mention I will be attending the draft for the second straight year rocking Hoosier gear. One of the best events I've ever gone to. This year I am bringing a friend who is a 76ers fan so that night is the culmination of a lot of tanking!

Is the draft actually fun? I'd love to go to that or the NFL one some time.

One of the most fun nights I had last year. They sell beer, the entire stadium are hoops fans and going makes you really invested in knowing the prospects. Also amongst friends had some fun side bets on who was going to be taken next.

Second round they just let everyone in lower bowl and we were sitting amongst some of the lower prospects.

At Barclays last year they did a good job of showing highlights and keeping crowd engaged between picks. After leaving my friend and I basically committed to going every year as long as it's in NYC.

Although never spoken to the media, I have to say Cody, Jordan and obviously those who have left felt the similar and I hate it that Noah is getting a bad rap because he's just not that kind of guy, just misspoke at wrong time to the wrong people.

How do they feel exactly? Do they feel underutilized? Do they feel Crean doesn't know his ball? Feel Crean is too lenient on punishments? That the program isn't ran well, and if so what does that mean?

Nothing specific has been noted except Vonleh saying he could have done more. What would Cody, Hulls, Etherington, Abel, Kenny Johnson say?
