Yogi and Stan Arrested....

Recommended Posts

I can clearly remember being down at IU for little 5 having Tom Coverdale's party get busted up by the cops.  Season's over, it's Little 5.  Anyone surprised?

I'm kind of torn here....... obviously it was a bonehead move to try and get into a bar underage during the week with the heaviest police presence of the year. They have to know they are not in a position they can cast the program in a negative light and need to be focusing on improving their game. I'm sure Crean had a talk with them to keep their noses clean. But talking and acting are two different things.

But, its lil 5 and theyre 18-22 year olds. Drinking is basically expected. Just be smart enough to not do it in a place that it can come back to bite you. I'm not sure its indicative of Crean having lost the team. Sure, punishing Hanner harder may have made them think twice. But come on... what kids that age think like that? When there is fun being had across the street, they're going to want to go join in.

Losing Yogi and StanRob for any period of time next season is going to really hurt. Assuming they have no prior criminal record, they will likely be offered pre trial diversion programs (ie no criminal record, just fines, alcohol class, community service).

How Crean answers this will do a lot to make or break how I see him as a coach and disciplinarian.

Everyone does it. But Yogi is held to a higher standard than most people on that campus. I'm not bothered at all by this though. Take the punishment and move on, that's all you can do.

Agreed. Its not so much that its morally reprehensible... its that its boneheaded.

You're starters on the Indiana University basketball team and in Bloomington. People will recognize you.

Just easily avoidable trouble.

What has changed or is just luck? We know of the shenanigans the players under Sampson participated in, how many of those players became involved with the Monroe County legal system?
Ask your buddies, if found guilty, getting caught with a fake ID and drinking underage is a very costly affair in Monroe County.
What are we looking at here?

Large fines, court fees. Probably close to 100 hours of community service. As far as the team goes, I have no idea what the punishment will be

Probation too. So I'm guessing around 500 dollars for court fees, underage ticket is what, $425? Plus Community service for the fake IDs. So basically their whole summer is gone

Ya know what... good. More time for them in the gym and weight room.

(Obviously not actually good)
