I live pretty close to owensboro and Apollo comes up to play some Evansville schools a bit, i'll try to get to a game to watch the guy next year.. especially if his recruitment gains momentum.

I don't live far from Owensboro, but I try not to go over there.  I feel my IQ drop every time I cross the river.

Want to know the skinny on Kentucky resident Eli Wright?  Gotta go into the mouth of the beast.

Kentucky Sports Radio has an article on Eli that has a really good comment section, including info from folks who see him play in-person at Apollo High:

FYI; I know it's early, but for what it's worth all three 247 crystal ball projections have Eli to IU.

Eli being a "lifelong Cats fan" as from the comments in that article, concerns me a bit if he gets an offer from UK... but the decision would have to lie in how much playing time he'll get.  Eli should know that UK won't put him on a pedestal and any other good SG from anywhere in the country could take his spot in a second.  Not to mention, if he's not a one and done, he can have his spot taken every single year that he's there.   Just take a look at Yogi's position in our program, he's. the. man.    and i'm sure Eli would take that into consideration to be in that same type of position, many would.

I could've told people he's a pUKe fan just by knowing how Owensboro is.  It's a sea of blue.

"Lifelong fan of a team' is relevant, but it doesn't clinch very many deals. Once a kid gets on campus, gets into the mix with his future teammates, and gets into a relationship with the coaching staff, that's when the rubber hits the road.

Plus "lifelong fan" may not matter as he sees Kentucky fans saying he isn't good enough for Kentucky. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
