Coach Johnson takes to Twitter

Wow seriously guys? You're taking what I said and making in to something completely different to try and ostracize my points. That's childish and lazy. No, I'm not talking about workout regiments. I'm talking about improving AS A COACHING STAFF so another season like last one will not happen.

I have not in any post said I want an update on transfers. I really could care less why they left. Let's get on the same page before you start shaking your head. I'm asking for accountability about the season and explanations on improvements. Once again, don't care why anyone left as I really didn't care they left. I think instead of focusing our time on what media sit said what, why don't we have the coaches tell us about improvements. Why do we turn the ball over every game. Why can't we figure out a zone. What are the coaches doing to ensure a season like this season cannot and will not happen again. I want accountability, instead of blaming player progress. Again, let me be clear just in case I lost you, I don't care why anyone left and neither should the coaches. Why do they care what someone speculates if they know the truth? Talk about something with substance...like the season as a whole.

I actually thought that we were significantly improved against the zone the last year.

The Penn State debacle and the Purdue abomination were against teams that played little or no zone!

That, and a lot of what folks are griping about is far more than in-game strategies. Sorry if I pinned too much of that griping on you.

As far as in-game strategies; give it time. It's still March and there's lots and lots of time for media and coaching staff public navel-gazing!

Turnovers. That's why we lost those games. I addressed that in my post. You did not

This is why people feel they can't try and make a point on these sites. When you try and voice an unpopular opinion, it turns in to this

it wasn't about your points, it was how youre coming across... wow. nevermind.

'Scuse me while I quote myself! ;)

If you look at Creans team historically, how can you be optimistic at all? They will be high on turnovers and short on length. Now going on year 7 or 8(really can't remember) in the B1G, you would think Crean would have figured out the two I have mentioned results in losses. Something Crean has been really good at IU. Thank God for Purdue(who kicked our a$$), or we would have been dead last in the league. Again, something Crean has been good at IU.

This post would be a damning indictment of CTC's teams were it true, but it is not.

We were very high on turnovers last year. With a sophomore pg, a freshman 2 guard, and a freshman at the 3 spot.

The two years before last we were not high on turnovers. Experience = fewer turnovers. Period.

Length? This coming year, Yogi is not a "long" player. Hanner is. Troy is. Devin, if he plays the 4, is. Stan is. AntLee, if he comes to IU is. JB2? A little longer and taller than you think. RoJo? Not long. Yante and Josh C? Both very long for their positions. Max? Doesn't seem so.

Overall? Better outside shooting, more experience with our ballhandlers. And...pretty much gotta be better team chemistry.

Let me preface this with saying that I by no means think everything is okey dokey these days. Now that that's out of the way let me ask you a few questions. Do you have a job? If so do you give out public self-appraisals about your job? Do you think that these things aren't being discussed internally? Do you think that you deserve Coach Crean's undivided attention and answers to all of your questions? Do you think that demanding these things on a basketball forum is going to get you those answers?

Sorry if that comes off mean spirited. My writing skills aren't the greatest. I'm just trying to say that you're probably asking for much more than you'll ever get from any coach at any sport at any level.

I want answers about the season, not about rumors about transfers. Who really cares why they left? I don't. They don't want to play for my school, move along. My question is, when we are coming off of a season like this, why is this what they are focusing on? Transfers are at the bottom of my list of worries for this program

BUT... I will say that I think he is referencing message boards, blogs, Twitter & Facebook etc. Very well could be referencing this site as well, who knows.

While I wouldn't consider BtownBanners "media" I do think we are a new age or Media and people do put a lot of stock in what they see here.

I don't think anyone expects point-by-point accountability from the coaching staff. I would like to see some accountabilty period. So far, it hasn't been forthcoming. It seems to be a "Hey, we coaches are working hard" while blaming the players and throwing them under the bus meme.

That's exactly my pint. In a season of press conferences dogging the players, I want ONE press conference where the coaches sit for 20 minutes and explain what they are doing to improve. I honestly don't think that's too much to ask for. Especially from a bunch who hasn't taken accountability for this season at any level.

Idiot!!! You just narrowed down your location! Now if he can find a map, learn how to read, find a car, learn how to navigate, he might end up in Florida! Assuming he knows his Cardinal directions of course :)

I work at a Medical Diagnostics company. Every single thing we do is documented and published by the FDA and I am audited monthly on work errors and improvements.  I'm asking for one press conference. Maybe my job is a bad example?

I'm on board with coaches accountability to the fan base, but I also agree there isn't much to be said other than, "We sucked this year, but we're doing everything we can to get better. Next year will not be a disappointment."

In 2012, we were 7th in the conference in turnover percentage. In 2013, we were 11th in the conference in turnover percentage. Our actual rate didn't change much between those two seasons, however. But, relative to the rest of the conference, we were actually worse in 2013 than 2012 despite having more experience.

Turnovers should and will get somewhat better with experience. Don't expect them to ever be great under Crean. You will most likely be disappointed. That's just not his norm.
