Are you saying Dakich wouldn't jump all over this? I dunno for sure but I'd think he'd be all over it.

Doubtful. He needs pre-game access to the coaching staff to do his job as a TV guy.

If we do see anything in the media, it would almost have to come from some national columnist who doesn't cover Indiana regularly. But, I doubt one of those guys is out looking for stories about why our walk-ons left.

I just don't think Dakich has enough self control not to jump on it. He'd see ratings bonanza and $$$$ in his eyes. Whether or not he's a traditional news source, I dunno. Talk radio has been around ever since there's been radio. Not as long as newsprint of course but quite some time.

Dakich could, but I still think he's too close to the program to shoot himself in the foot Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

No chance you see this from a "actual media source". Media have jobs to do, they need access to coaches, players, administration for interviews and credentials. They can't publish reports on all the things they hear because they can't afford to lose access. The media is far more political than you want to believe. There is politics in everything.

yes but larger national publications would be all over this if one of the "sources" approached them.  ESPN, SI, Yahoo, I am sure they would love to have a story that encompassed on all of the stories that are being reported as fact here.

An ass chewing from Knight came from a different perspective, no matter how harsh it may seen in today's light, or even back then.

An ass chewing from Crean has nothing backing it, and therefore won't be received in the same light, as one from Knight.

There are MAJOR problems brewing in Bloomington, and if Glass doesn't get a handle on it soon, defections and losing seasons will become commonplace again. This is no longer just about green players failing to reach their potential in a given season.

Maybe, I just don't think National Media would care why the walk ons at IU are leaving. Therefore it won't get coverage. Now if Yogi, Troy, Stan etc left... Then they'd be snooping around

I know what you mean and fully understand it. Maybe it wouldn't be Dakich but I could see someone running with it. There are "journalist" out there who will go with anything that will get them publicity and site hits.

There is a reason I brought it up in this thread instead of a brand new thread and tweet it out to the masses. I could tweet this story out and get a billion new members and site hits, but it's just not right to do that Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

He's the head coach at Indiana University and you're saying that he doesn't have the credentials to yell at his players. wow

Your scruples are much higher than many out there.

I'd love to tell you my sources. But i'd love to keep getting information more. No offense, but you will never have someone answer that question unless their source is no longer affiliated with the program. I post 5% of the stuff I hear. I also get clearance to post anything I do as they obviously know I run this place. If you don't want to believe it, then don't. But don't view me not posting a source's name as anything more than me protecting said relationship. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Amen IU Hoosier.  People "in the loop" have to restrain from revealing their sources for this very reason.  They could not only lose out on an avenue for insider information, but more importantly damage relationships, reputation, and rapport.

That being said, I will however back IU Hoosier on his recount of Crean's bashing of the seniors.  As someone who grew up in Bloomington and attended grade school through college alongside many of IU Administrations' kids, I was fortunate to hang out with past players, staff, and boosters. I was privileged enough to have access to a lot of the "behind the scene" ongoings of IUBB.

A few tidbits I'd like to drop, whether its common knowledge or not, to show I'm not blowing smoke outta my rear...

-DeAndre Thomas was caught and nearly arrested for stealing DVDs from Target back during Sampson's tenure.

-Mike Davis missed out on a dinner with the May family, left an awful taste in their families mouth (no pun intended)

-Every program cheats... The question isn't whether your program cheats or not... it's to what degree does your program cheat? Ive seen firsthand players get handed gift cards. Bracey Wright was cruising around in a brand new sports car after his first week on campus.. hrmmmmm

oh ya, the pot smoking allegations happens to a bunch of players at a bunch of universities.  I remember my freshman year my friends were bragging about chiefing up with VJ-III in The Villas. That kinda stuff happens pretty much everywhere, at most major conference schools.

I don't expect you to reveal sources. But honestly, if this was really the case, like i said, why would guys like Yogi or Williams stick around? Just to be berrated and told they won't amount to anything? If I was in that situation, I'd be like screw it, I could go play anywhere else and not have to deal with it.. And potentially be on a Natonal Championship contender.

There is so much anti-Crean rhetoric floating around out there, that it's hard for me to decipher for myself what's true and what's not.. I am skeptical in terms of what was actually said, as opposed to what is being passed along to you by your sources. Like you said earlier, it's like the old telephone game.....

Dakich wouldn't have much to gain for "breaking" this story out to the public.  Like Hoosier41 said, it would be way too much personal as well.

Speaking of the Dakich... I was actually a camp counselor at Bradford Wood's for his daughter and his son, Andrew, was a huge twerp and a pain in the ass at St. Charles :P
