IU Hoosier41

Indiana is on the NIT Bubble...

Recommended Posts

Get over it people... We had a bad year. Time to move on. It's almost spring and the weather will soon be warm. So take your anti depressants and grow a pair. Everyone is acting like self entitled children. It is hard to consistently win in college ball, now more than ever. It takes everyone going in the same direction. The iu fan base has probably done more damage to recruiting this week than ever. Chill out. The world is still spinning. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Hilarious. The IU fan base has done more damage to recruiting this week than ever? I'm sure the downfall of recruiting wouldn't be the other obvious realities like our team underachieved, couldn't get Noah shots which is great for recruiting big men, lose at home to Penn St and Norwestern when recruits are front and center, or getting spanked by last place Purdue so all our northern instate talents are impressed. Plus with all of the upperclassmen sent packing the last couple of years(Roth, Abell, Creek) to make room for unproven freshmen gives these recruits assurances that they will get time to develop and play. Then just for good measure you know you will get blamed for everything that goes wrong in games to protect the head coach. The obvious reasons are there for recruits and our fans are one of the very few positives now and definately not the way you see them.

Do you ever post anything that's not refuting someone else's opinion, or ripping on the team/coach?

Read my posts to get your answer. I have been complimentary to our players more than Crean because it has been warranted. You will see that I have praised Crean. Isn't this a message board for opinions refuted by facts? Or is this a cheerleading board praising our excellent play this year. A poster ripped our fans. Of all the persons to blame for our problems, they would be last in line. Now, please stop with your baiting. If you want to contribute thought, produce it.

This team should be embarrassed to even consider an NIT invitation. There's only one reason why IU would be considered and it's because, "It's IU" and, as someone above noted, we draw well. Frankly, having ourselves pimped out for TV ratings when the product is as messed up as it is, would be worse than missing the NIT altogether. Tom should go have a nice long summer with Jim, John and Joani, enjoying a barbeque and several beers, discussing strategies, and reading various books on the game of basketball, how it's played and how one can be successful.

Not baiting at all. There are posters here intimidated to post because there is no respect for their opinions. I really don't need guidance as to my posting thank you. I have no issues with not all posts being positive- as a matter of fact, 2 of my favorite posters are of the more critical type. The difference is that they don't search out posts to confront, and if they do differ, it's done with respect. Again, not baiting at all.

Like Crean said, "It's Indiana, it's Indiana". We shouldn't have seasons like this past one, and next season won't be any better without Vonleh. We also under performed last year in the tourney with the talent and experience we had. It all falls on Crean, and being a blueblood this is not acceptable.

Well said, spot on.

Sadly, if there are deflections like people expect we could be pretty bad next year.  Yes experience is important, and if we keep having deflections by upperclassmen we won't have that.  When Crean was hired Marquette fans warned us about the number of deflections.

I know Coach Crean tracks deflections, but I think you mean "defections".  :cheese:

What defections could possibly hinder next season? I don't see Yogi, Stan, Troy or Devin leaving - all will get a TON of burn. Those guys, along with RJ and JBJ will be our foundation. I personally wouldn't be concerned with losing anyone else.

The shooters we have coming in will space out the floor better, and make an offense much easier to run. We will miss Noah and his rebounding for sure, no doubt about it. Noah wasn't utilized effectively by the coach, and Perea can avg 5 shots a game. I also hope yogi, Stan, devin, and Troy wear out their practice cards.

Problem is though you need a big that can keep the D from cheating out on the shooters, think the year before we had Zeller.  Perea has ways to go before I'd trust him, yeah he had a good game late in the year (Nebraska?) but the D didn't seem too concerned about him on the court.

So really, we'll be replacing a need of shooters with the need of a good big.  We'll be better, but I've seen some fans think we'll contend for a title and I can't see that.  I think an early exit would realistically be the ceiling.

The way I see it, Crean got Indiana out of the basement of college basketball. But is he capable of taking the team to the next level? His body of work says no. He is a program builder, at this point not an NCAA championship coach. How can you miss out on a field of SIXTY EIGHT teams... as Indiana? And a field of 32 in the NIT... thats asinine. If the boosters can pony up the cash to get him out, fine by me...

Thanks to Crean for fixing a mess and getting the program to a stage that it can be operable. I recognize his efforts but I also recognize his limits. His limit has been reached in Bloomington, its time to go get a stud coach.

Shaka Smart? Wichita State's coach? Bryce Drew?
