Crean gone?

Recommended Posts

So I know a guy who knows a guy who's roommates brothers friends cousin said Crean is getting a lifetime contract.

In all seriousness...I wouldn't consider BR as a credible source of information. It's more like the hair-salon-full-of-chatty-blue-hairs of sports journalism.

That article is not written by the average Bleacher Report journalist.

It's written by Adam Zagoria, who is about as wired-in a college basketball writer as there is.

This isn't a BR story, they always post articles from other news sources, and this is the case here. This is just a story saying Woodson has no interest in the job. First off, that is BS. I'd be willing to bet that Woodson would love to get out of the NBA and coach his alma mater. I just don't buy the fact that it is Crean's time to go, whether the "boosters" want him gone or not. But....in the end, money rules all things in college sports, and if IU thinks that CTC isn't the longterm answer at coach, why not fire him when the boosters are on your side and are willing to dish out the money for a buyout.

I'm with you I think he says all that out of respect for his friend crean

First, I don't think indiana wants to send the message that they will fire a coach that loses so many players from the previous year. That's a bad message to send to other coaches around the country. Also, how many recruits would they lose if they decide to do that? If, hypothetically this were to happen, I'm not sure Woodson would be best choice. Personally I think Jim crews, Calvert cheaney would be better choices. Just my opinion

I really hope we can do better than Woodson, Cheaney, or Crews.

I'll tell you this, Fred Glass is the same AD that kept Lynch around an extra year. Do you really think he's getting rid of a coach who is one season off of an outright BIG title? Especially since we owe Crean so much money. This is 100% false. Sorry if this got anyone's hopes up.

Crean will definitely be on the hot seat this next year, but I just don't see iu shipping him off with millions.

If a booster is willing to drop 12 million next year to get CTC out the door, I doubt that dropping a extra 2 million this year is going to stop them.

Boy, if Cheany or Crews either one was THE hire, I might as well become a Kentucky fan! Loved Calbert as a player, but a little coaching experience would certainly help, and Jim Crews is a wonderful mid majors coach, he'll never be a big timer or he would have already been one. If we are going to start rumors make them good ones! John Wooden was cryogenically frozen and we are going to defrost him to coach the Hoosiers! Now that would be a rumor! None of this boring stuff, Phil Jackson to Coach Hoosiers!

Something we can really sink or teeth in!

If we landed Phil Jackson as coach I don't think we'd ever have to be concerned about recruiting again. Just say Phil Jackson is the coach, and kids would flock here.

Obviously this would never happen, but man what could be

As far as recruits go, they've all signed LOIs.  They could ask out of the LOI, but the university wouldn't have to let them out of it.
