I don't understand how you guys aren't realizing the reason players will leave IU to go to the pros. The decision to go Pro is not about how mature or ready you are, the decision is basically told to each player by the NBA at the end of the season. They get REALLY good advice about if they should go out or not. Cody wasn't ready, he isn't Naive to that fact, but NBA people and Crean & Co painted the picture to him that his stock can only go down. He proved what he needed to prove.

A college player will go Pro at any point if they feel their stock has hit its peak. Cody felt it had, Victor felt it had. Judging from the NBA projections, Noah will have hit his peak as well. He has nothing left to prove in the college game.

College athletes with potential for the NBA go to college just like you do. If you finished your freshman year and your dream job came to you asking to hire you, would you turn them down just because you weren't smart enough or have all the knowledge needed? Or would you just go to your dream job and learn on the job (since that is actually an option).

If you would stay than you are kidding yourself.

Give me a second so I can put my phone down and clap. You hit the nail on the head. Why stay in college and improve when teams tell you that you're going to be a high pick and get paid to improve with them. I'd take the money every day of the week and twice on Sundays. If you can't improve your draft stock then there's not much point in trying to stay and do that.

With all that said I still hope he stays. Lol

The moment you start realizing that Indiana is just a stepping stone for NBA caliber players the better. They will love IU, and think highly of it, but no kid (especially from out of State, is coming to IU because it's their dream and they want to stay four years to make them better and become an Indiana hero.

You'll get that reaction from walk ons and some in state kids, but not out of state. He'll the biggest die hard Hoosier Jordan Hulls himself would have shown IU the deuces if he was told he'd be drafted in the first round after his freshman or sophomore year. These kids don't owe the school anything. It's just a stepping stone on their way to their dream. Just as Indiana was a stepping stone for me to achieve my professional dreams. It's literally no different.

He still might be but his on the court issue has some teams probably wondering wtf about him. What if you come back and get injured? You have to go when the time is right and he's proven all he has to prove at IU.

I hope that this does not happen...otherwise we are no better than UK. That might be the day that the proverbial music dies.

That is exactly how I feel about the situation. I thought he would be back pretty confidently 1 month ago but him missing these last 2 games the way he has, tells me you are exactly right. He is mocked at #5-8. Not much he can do to improve his stock, but he could easily hurt his stock. For the record, I hate, absolutely hate the one and done rule.

I don't know why NBA GM's aren't drooling over accomplished players like Fair, Kilpatrick (UofC), TJ Warren, Payne, Napier, Cory Jefferson, Ejim, Russ Smith, etc.

These guys have proven they can dominate year after year and continue to polish their games. I realize the argument of upside BUT.........

Welcome to the modern-day NBA. You don't even have to be good to get drafted anymore. If you're tall, athletic and look good shooting a basketball some NBA team will throw the kitchen sink at you to come in and make them relevant. It's a joke.

There was an article that stated Noah's mother wanted him to come to IU not just because they are a blue-blood basketball school but because of the emphasis of education that Coach puts on his players. I think he will stay until he gets his degree because it is important to his mother. This is also where I respect Yogi's mom on her views and how she has stressed to him the importance of getting his education because you never know how long you will be playing in the NBA. It does come down to those multi-million contracts. I think he stays.

I saw a different article right after he committed that talked about how IU helps get kids ready for the next level (NBA) and that was very appealing to him. He is going to school so he can excel in his chosen profession - the NBA. He will leave when it is the most advantageous to do so not because he has a degree. He can get the degree any time. In fact, I would argue it would be better for him to get his degree later when he can pour as much passion into that as he does now for basketball.

Noah Vonleh sort of reminds me of Andre Drummond, not in the way they play, but although Drummond wasn't amazing in his one year at UCONN, he had tons of potential and then some. It took a couple seasons, but he's starting to play really well against NBA competition.

Vonleh has a lot of work to do to polish and expand his offensive game and also learn the intricacies of defense. He's not an incredible athlete, but that doesn't matter because his size makes up for that.

I think Vonleh will and should stay, but he has the work ethic, body, and potential to excel at the next level. Might as well leave, especially if Embiid and Parker stay.

Eh, Drummond was putting mind boggling numbers per the minutes he was getting. He wasn't getting minutes because Mo Cheeks was an absolute joke of a coach and instead continued to play players like Rodney Stuckey, Kyle Singler, above him in the rotation. The only reason his minutes jumped the way they did was because Cheeks was told he had to start playing their best player more minutes per game. And their new interim coach was told the same thing. He has always been one of the best young players, and one of the better big men in the game.

I know for a fact that Cody's mom wanted him to stay and graduate. Didn't happen. You can't expect anyone to turn down a guarenteed 3 year/$10mil to get a degree that might net him a third of that over 30 years. Cody was a business major and that's just bad business. Noah in the same boat. If he stays, it will most likely be a mistake.

Next years draft is not nearly as stacked as this year. He's not at his peak as far as draft stock goes even if Jabari and Embiid stay. He's floating around 5-8 now and would be top 5 next year with a chance to keep adding to his game.

I understand why he would go bc of being a lottery pick right now but your first contract isn't whats makes you big money, it's the second and third. By staying he's able to prepare himself to be good right away.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

But he had only 30 hours to graduate and I am sure he will have that knocked out in no time. What bothers me is these one and dones. If you want the money so bad go straight to the pros, why even waste a year or two in college? If I was Vonleh and I know I come from a time when loyalty and dedication to a college program meant something, I would stay and try and get the NCAA Championship. But then I wasn't born in the 90's.

Keep hearing people say this. And that remains to be seen, Embiid could easily come back, as could Parker. The top International player, Dario Saric, who is currently being slotted around being picked 10th in the draft is 50/50 on whether he is going to be entering the draft. If those three decide to not enter, then Vonleh decides to not enter then next year's draft could easily be seen as good or slightly better or worse than this year's draft. That would be 4 guys thought of as potential top 10-12 picks coming back for another year.
