Special edition B1G Tourney uniforms

Recommended Posts

I have to say.  I am SOOOO happy they are taking this step to update the uniforms.  This baby step, which is very calculated in my mind, will help slowly accept the new uniforms among the old "Traditionalist" crowd.  We've been needing to catch up to the times for a long time on these bad boys.  They've made subtle changes in the past, this is obviously the biggest change.  I'm hoping this is just the beginning, and we move on to Nice jerseys that our players actually look good in.

Our you saying that our players don't look good in our current jerseys? That is just a subjective opinion. One that I strongly disagree with.

Personally, I think the new jerseys are unnecessary, ugly, and a cheap money grab that Indiana should stay away from. I predict not one single recruit comes to IU who wouldn't have because of these jerseys. Adidas will undoubtedly be happy that a few people will buy replicas of them though, so there's that.

The ones that Tennessee got are really nice too. As usual, Michigan's are ugly. Not sure why, but I hate every Michigan basketball uniform. Most other schools got sleeved jerseys from this, so we don't have it too bad.

No I think our current jersey's are fine.  I'm just not in the mindset that things can never change just because of tradition.  The tradition is winning championships... It's been 25+ years since that has happened.  Maybe a change would be good.

Count me in the group that would love to see some updates. I agree that Script Indiana would be awesome to see as well.

I don't think we need to chnage the uniforms every year, but something like Duke & UNC - a signature look (argyle for UNC, the side panels for Duke) with minor tweeks over the years would a good thing.

In conjuction with the Nike/Jordan thread, I really hope we don't end up with the weird watermark thing on the backs of the jerseys. Not a fan of that at all.

So what I'm reading so far is "as long as we win" and "need an update." Let's ditch everything we identify Indiana basketball with, then. Let's get those one and dones here so we can win! Let's get ultra 2014 neon infracrimson jerseys with tribal swirly patterns that won't look dated in 5 years. Hey, as long as we win. Let's burn down Assembly Hall and throw our old crap in there because let's face it, it's been a couple decades and here in 'Murica we don't need the past. Maybe with a giant new stadium we can WIN! There's more to a basketball program than having every season being a winning season. Things like tradition, integrity, and not selling out. You wanna know why Knight was so loved even after he stopped winning titles and why IU is such a storied program? Because he held true to those basic principles that have made IU basketball what it's been for over a century. Tradition, integrity, and not being a sell-out. But hey, as long as we win, right?

Sure, we could get another title and some more wins, but we don't have to sacrifice everything we are for it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Bobby also started traditions like the candy striped pants. I'm considered an ole fart and not only do I like these uniforms, I wish we had a new areana just like Bankers Life. I got stuck one Purdue game at the top of the lower levels and bad seats were a compliment. That was before a scoreboard was on the pressbox and we had to ask what the score was. I vote thumbs up.

Tradition has done wonders for the program in my lifetime.

I really don't think it's a big deal to have a special uniform every now and then. It's not like this is going to be the regular one.

I agree with NOLA.... no reason for this... we are IU we are not Baylor... we don't need to change just because everyone else is. Some of you are saying this is a small tweak.... but it is those small changes that open the door for names on the back, infra-red... Do the players really get hyped up for this? Are they really excited about it? Does it help them stay cooler or play better?

(Hope Not, Doubt it, NO, NO).... it is a marketing ploy for IU and Addidas to make some extra money.

I would be dissappointed if any player said anything about being so excited to play because they get to wear new jerseys.... if you are not excited to play because you are playing at IU then go somewhere else and wear whatever jerseys you want!!
